Okay it's best to have ssl and keep www. in the address.

Google is forever updating their algorithm, it's hard to keep up with but it's always good to try stay updated as much as possible.

Apparently they did roll out an update in December 2017

Also, I'm in a lot of affiliate marketing groups and network with a lot of webmasters in different forums. Many of which had noticed big drops in traffic and rankings. Many believe this was due to their link building efforts (Using scholarship links and low quality link building tactics)

What type of SEO or backlinking strategies have you been doing to your site before the lose of rankings?
