I have one name sold at sedo auction in 2006. Sedo can do nothing but hold my name for few months then relist it for sale again after winner walk away without sending payment.

It's happen again now. Why sedo can not protect seller?
Look like only buyer get protect at sedo...

Any suggestion?

Thanks for looking!

Because sedo has nothing to hold buyers accountable for backing out of the deal. You must take action against them.

Hi Rob,

Should I take action against the buyer?

Thanks,

Because of this lack of enforcement ... Sedo is a breeding ground for fake bids, non-paying "bidders/buyers", fake "sales", hype "sales", and non sales, and shill bidding IMHO. :o

Sedo needs to take harsh steps to better validate bidders (and track/cross-reference full contact details and I.P. addresses, etc.) and obtain full funds, perhaps in advance, from buyers ... and then hold them accountable - legally! - in following through on transactions (thus, protecting sellers) IMHO. :gl:

I wonder how many "sales" at Sedo never actually complete, historically?
If one watches for changes / updates in Whois's, it's still occurring IMHO. :red:

The problems with Sedo in this regard are well documented here throughout the forums ...
Just my two sense.

Probably because they don't think it's worth their while. I imagine bigger sales would get better follow up and more attention from Sedo staff.

Sedo has a valid credit card on file for all bidders right? Why not charge, say...15% cancellation fee to the deadbeat buyer. Then split that 15% with the victim (the seller). At the very least, there NEEDS to be a penalty in place. Like Sedo doing nothing is going to make this matter any better -

Ebay is just as bad about deadbeat buyers. But at least you still have your domain.

Sedo are really bad when it comes to protecting sellers. They simply don't care.

The majority of my sales have turned out to be from non-paying bidders, and Sedo support just ignore you and say "we take every effort to contact the buyer".

There is a Sedo staff member over at another domain forum that is actually good, though. He looked into one of my sales that didn't go through and within 10 minutes he found out that:

1) The buyer had quite a few other auctions which he/she had won, but hadn't paid for.

2) Hence, this Sedo member compensated me by adding my domain to the featured category thing - for free!

This was, in my opinion, a great thing to do - Sedo should be doing this all the time. It's easy enough to do, although Sedo just can't be bothered.. (apart from this one staff member, fair play to him :))

I'd love to see Sedo fail, I really would. Unfortunately they're in a relatively monopolistic position, hence I'm thinking that their abusive actions (from not protecting sellers, to cancelling auctions that they think could have gone for higher) will go undisciplined.

Sedo will ,and have provided the info, on buyers that back out of deals.

Post their details on all relevant forums, may help others a little and you will get some satisfaction.

They do? Did you just ask for their details?

I'll do that in the future if so :) Although in the past, the impression I've got is that I can't contact the buyer, because Sedo "make all efforts to" (what a joke!)

Yep, on a couple of occasions.

It's our fault really. We've made SEDO what it is today, a company that doesn't deserve it's dominant place in the domain aftermarket. SEDO doesn't care about buyers or sellers. SEDO just cares about it's inflated sales commissions.

True, although Sedo are losing money by treating their customers as monkeys.

I'd happily pay the $50 fee (or whatever it is) to go into the featured section, although now that I know how Sedo act, I won't. I have quite a few domains I'd probably use the service on - that's their $xxx loss.
