Most active domainers are on namepros who sell and buy all day long.
why pay % of 20-25% to GD, Sedo and other place when u still buying and selling from same people.
There is less shill bidding here because its clear who bids on auctions.
On GD they hide identities and allowing shill bidding this way.
Every day u can go to major market place and see clear shill bidding.
The best deals are here on NamePros.
Lets stop paying commission to companies that do not respect us.

NP would be the best, if most buyers on here, including myself, weren't looking for the "deal of the century."

Too many already established places buyers run to along with here.

Namepros is a great "liquid" option, bit harder to sell higher end though. Great to see all the sales action though, especially for the new folk wanting to get an idea of the industry

I think it's definitley one of the best places to BUY domains.

Nice thread, but lets expand the options. I would be prepared to offer a 15% commission to any NP member who arranges a retail sale of one of my names for more than $2,000.

That's at a price that I accept of course

Wow .. that's pretty good .. I'm personally looking for the "deal of the millennium"! ;)

Seriously though .. I think the real goal should be to sell to end users .. and it would actually be a bad thing if those same end users came to any of the wholesale auction platforms .. because essentially they'd become domainers .. that we'd now need to compete with!

This!

NP is awful for selling domains that aren't extremely liquid like 3l.coms etc. If you're a buyer then yes it's a great place to pick up bargains.

Agree to that.

Something is missing though. The end users. So I will agree that it is the best place to buy domains.

So when a seller here at Namepros uses one of his ten fake accounts to bid you up you are fine with it since you can see who is making the actual bid?

Bidder at Namepros linked to an anonymous name and bidder at Godaddy linked to an anonymous number. No different.

I'm pretty sure they have a pretty good handle on that here on NamePros, as they keep a tight watch on dupe accounts and IP addresses. I can't say it never happens, but rarely, and the membership also does a great job of calling out suspected shill bids as I've seen here a few times in the last few days!

For example:

Hate to tell you but it's impossible for them to police.

How could it be impossible, I see them do it from time to time, if something is fishy? At the end of the day, everyone is still responsible for only paying what a domain is worth to them, so shill bidding on a professional domainers forum shouldn't really be a problem, and the last place it should be attempted, but they do have some tools at their disposal to weed out shill bidders, and they do use them!

Maybe @Eric Lyon would like to weigh in on this?

NamePros staff, technology, and members all work together to do a better job at policing and keeping our marketplace safe than any other platform out there, if you ask me. ;)

Please also read below:
First and foremost, I want to assure everyone that NamePros is very aggressive at removing unethical users from our marketplace. We close accounts and revoke marketplace access all the time, and we almost always do it before any serious problems occur. This all goes on behind the scenes thanks to member reports, a proactive staff, and automated systems that we have in place that help us quickly detect and stop unethical behavior. The vast majority of the time, things run smoothly without anyone knowing about all of this work going on in the background and the measures being taken to keep everyone safe.

The great thing about NamePros is that it offers everyone the ability to conduct their own thorough investigations on potentially unethical members. If anything is found, they can report it to us and we’ll swiftly take action. If nothing conclusive is found from a member’s research but there is still suspicion, we’re always happy to investigate it ourselves to see if we can uncover anything. We’re the only major domain marketplace that offers this level of transparency, and it is the reason that we’re one of the safest places to do business.

Even with an unparalleled level of scrutiny on every member, there are very few reports of misconduct or scams taking place on NamePros, and that is fully accredited to our processes, members, and team working diligently to keep the community safe. I guarantee that if this same level of scrutiny and research could be applied to certain other websites by their members, you'd be shocked at what you found and how much fraud goes completely undetected by them, because they don’t have a community of people checking their work. At NamePros, you have the largest domain community and our dedicated staff looking out for each other, and that’s what makes it so special and unprecedented.
We value our members’ safety and satisfaction above all else, and I hope everyone understands that we never play favorites. We do everything we can to keep our members safe. We aren't perfect and oversights happen, but we will never stop working tirelessly to make NamePros everything you expect it to be.

As always, if you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Hope that helps,

There are many techniques we can still use to detect shill bidders, but that isn't something we should discuss, because then it will help troublemakers slip through the cracks and go undetected. In the best interest of everyone, let's not discuss those techniques.

Thanks for understanding,

There is huge difference between NamePros and Godaddy. We are experienced domainers and can spot shill bidding. It gets reported here and taken care of. On Godaddy u can report it until cows come home. They never do anything about shill bidding. Its always clear when there is shill bidding on any auction.

To be honest i think i m the most lucky namepros member..i spent only $220 from september 2016 to june 2017.. i sold my first website on namepros forum for $199....i sold my secund website on namepros facebook for $2900 and i sold 3 domain names for almost $ 4000 on namepros facebook..definitively for me namepros is the best place to sell or buy domain ...

I agree that namepros is a great place buy and sell domain names. However on the sales side of things. I think np is lacking the big spenders that you will see on the major market places.

Yes that came in mind, you cannot avoid fake bids, it is always part of bidding.

I give u guys an example. I was trying to sell 4l.com here and could not sell it for $500. I got 5 figures from enduser. If someone bought it from me on namepros they would made 10K profit. So many missing out by not buying here.
