I only just modified 1 small thing on my index file and uploaded it to my website. But now, instead of displaying my website, it only lists the files and directories. When I look at the page I uploaded from my hard disk with Firefox, it displays correctly. How to fix this?

OK. I solved the problem. But don't know why. I renamed the file from index.htm to index.php. Before index.htm worked fine. Then I installed an ecart. Then .htm stopped working. I had to rename it in order for the list of files to not be displayed. Could the ecart (a PHP application) have changed a setting somewhere? Actually, it isn't even successfully installed yet.

In the .htaccess file you can set one or more default pages:
DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.php etc

Options -Indexes
in your .htaccess should disable this behavior. It´s always recommend to check the .htaccess
