I need some kind of form for my website where people can send me large image files directly to my email. The files are large so most people can't send them using their emails. How can I do this?

I may just have to create an account with a file hosting company and let people send them there but I don't want my clients to have to register with the file hosting company because they will only be sending one image usually and I don't want to waist their time.

Just set up a passworded file upload script.

You can grab the files through most admin panels.

PM me if you need help setting up I can do for $5

You can create a script to upload the files to your server first and then send it to you by email. It can be done fearly easy with PHP.

Indeed. As John said, the easiest way would be simply to give them a FTP account

Twells,
As already stated above, you have a variety of options. If you are most interested in your clients convenience however, I would have to say that a form on your site for them to 'simply' upload the file to you would be the best way to go.

Without some form of registration however, validation or authentication that your clients are the ones uploading the files would be difficult (IE: There are some who abuse unsecured forms). If you decided to go this route you would want some type of security or checks to make sure that either (A) Only your clients are allowed to upload verified perhaps by a premade login or password to use the form, or (B) Take some risks at their greatest convenience.

A personal client of mine before I came to DesignVitality, Harvey Gulf International LTD out of Harvey Louisiana had a similar request and situation, dealing with PDF files that were just outrageous in size. We ended up going the form route with a battery of script-side/server-side checks before the documents were mailed within the company.

Anyhow, I hope this suggestion helps. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help your website!
