Over the last year I have bought some domains on Godaddy's TDNAM. Some domains are listed showing the monthly traffic while parked on GD. The notice does say that current traffic is no guarantee of future traffic. I have bought the domains more for development than for traffic. Good thing too, for as soon as I buy these domains, the traffic seems to flat-line. Where does it go, and how can I get to keep some of it? NP domainers please help with this! Thanks.

Well, the issue is where the traffic is comming from initially. When a domain is developed, backlinks are created and many people visit the sites. When the domains expire and go to Auction they are still recieving some traffic from those backlinks. Problem is, after a while, people realize the domain is inactive and stop visiting.

I purchased a domain name on TDNAM that did well, but every month declined by about 20% - so I sold before it lost all of its traffic. Ideally you want to find a domain name with Natural Type In traffic - these are names that people just type in the browser instead of doing searches or recieving traffic from backlinks.

An example of a great Natural Type in is Sex.com - People dont search - they just type it in the browser.

When you see traffic disappear so quickly after you purchased the domain name, it is most likely that the seller was "stuffing" traffic by redirecting traffic from his/her other domains.

Or, that the traffic was overstated.

This is definetly a possibility. However, I have found that the traffic estimates are fairly accurate and you must assume a decline when you recieve the domain names.

Do picture links disappear as fast

HI, have a domain where alot of traffic comes from pictures indexed on Yahoo, thus when people search on adult pics, my site, many many pictures come up that when clicked on go to my site. Do these pics disappear as fast as links. The site also has over 6,300 links on yahoo and others. Thanks
