The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
.US domains.US domains

Sounds generic enough that you probably don't have anything legal to worry about -- I'd personally ignore the email. :imho:

As your username suggests, perhaps this could turn into an end user sale? :hehe:

I would respond,

Thank you for your enquiry. The domain ******.com is available for purchase should you wish to make an offer.
We look forward to your response.

This email could possibly come from someone who's actually involved in the floral industry in this particular city. He/she might see you as potential competition.

So that means that he/she's a potential enduser for your domain... ;)

So I would definitely reply to this email. There could possibly be a nice enduser sale hidden behind this not-so-friendly email. :)

Sounds like she's setting me up imho - though that is a good pitch.
Thanks Len!

I'd check to see if there is a florist by that name in that city, then check the USPTO, to be sure on any TM issues. You might also want to check Archive.org and see if perhaps they 'dropped' it unwittingly, and may be trying to get it back. If you've checked all the possibilities on the name and the inquiring florist, and all seems intact, ...then offer it to them at a respectable profit, and then go drop hunting again!!

You can't trademark a geographical location, can you?

Reminds me of a Boston Beer case.

Even if you have no interest in selling at this time, I would not close the door as you have no idea of their intentions or their pocket :) I would just respond in a way that you have just got the name with intentions of development. If they really want the name, just making initial contact will keep the door open and you never know, you may get an offer you dont want to refuse..

Whatever you do, good luck

Not a TM specialist, but California Angels is a TM that comes to mind.

or, you can say...

Are you a florist or attached to the floral industry? Please clearly state the purpose of your email so that I can intelligently respond to your query.

I would respond that youve taken a certain interest in Floral Arrangements, and you would eventually like to display your artwork on the site.

Just reply with "Yes" to drive them crazy.

If you are going to use this name for a well-worth-your-effort project, then keep and don't sell for sure. Otherwise, every name should be up for sale.....at the right price. you never know if they might offer something you can't resist :)

I would just say that you regged it for a project you are working on and see how they respond. The name seems fairly generic (nice name by the way!), but its always best to respond with caution until you know their intentions.
