Have to disagree. I swear they wish they had .com instead. So it's basically the second best extension for tech related startups.

Yes, but its not possible was for everyone to buy the proper .com for mid $xx.xxx for example. A mid $x.xxx range would be a more reasonable option.

The memorability of .io and the fact that you can write it easily with your keyboard makes it awesome option for any start up project.

.io was the best extension for tech related start-ups when they were cheap and many keyword +.io domains were available But now it's another story
