Many reasons-
1- lot's of ccTLD registries will not allow you to register these (despite some WHOIS searches and registrars telliing you they are available and offering to register them)
2- some extensions (like .tv and .ws) charge a huge premium on 2/3 character names and unless you buy from the register providing the premium domains (e.g enomcentral.com/namejet.com for .tv and samoanic.ws for .ws)
3- price. Most of the exotic ccTLDs start at about $35pa, you'll find that all the better combinations are usually gone.
By 'better' combinations I mean:
*co (probably the best LL possible)
*LL proper words in English/major languages (in, it, we, to, of, le, es, de, la, at)
*repeating characters (e.g. aa, cc, ss, 88)
*the extension repeating (e.g. vg.vg)
*country codes for large countries (e.g. us, uk, de, fr, nl)
*or very good 'hacks' (e.g. lo.gs)
Combinations other than these don't really sell that well- just looking at the few past sales (my own included) you'd be lucky to get more than regfee back, perhaps $50 on the cheaper renewals. Which I suppose is point 4:
4- lack of previous sales of reasonable value (other than for really good combinations).
If you're able to get one of the combinations I've mentioned in one of the cheaper extensions then it may be worthwhile, if not then I'd recommend keeping your cash.
There are some extensions that would probably be strong enough to make it worth getting any CC.ext domain (.co.uk, .de, .us), but unfortunately these are the ones that are either fully registered or do not allow 2 character domains.
PS- I was sure all the LL.eu were reserved and are being slowly auctioned off by Pool.com- can someone confirm/correct me on this?
