Hi Tranie,

The answer is very simple. There are two reasons.

1. There is not very much competition for the keyword phrase "audio self help".
2. Your domain name is exact match keyword domain name and google gives preference to exact match keyword domain names.

You might find many search results for the phrase "audio self help" but very likely most of them are not targeting that term in their SEO strategy.

Well, you have reasons to rejoice for topping in Google for now. But you will notice that your ranking will continue to go down if you do not optimize your pages. Try searching it as 'broad term' and see your result.

Yes, that's very true... key word rich domain name help a lot for attracting traffic but you need to keep concentrating on building links, content and onpage SEO else you may loose yoru ranking no matter if you have keyword rich domain name.

thanks all for your comments iv just checked and im still at the top although at 1 point yesterday i was down to 9th, i find it funny that a search term that has 65,000,000 replies and a exact monthly search match of 4,400 should have little competition. Its not as though its an unusual search term 'audio self help' specialy as the .com is ranked 6th ?

If you search for the phrase "audio self help" there are only 14,500 results. This is part of the reason.

Also, look at the listing for your site. The phrase "audio self help" is shown 3 times and yours is the only one that just contains that phrase. It's also in your keywords tag, but not your description tag.

Now the bad thing is that I don't see that phrase anywhere else on your home page. Ok, you seem to have some links pointing to your site with that phrase. Interestingly, you don't have many, only a couple from Namepros that I can see... :)

I think you got lucky for that keyword phrase, which is great. Now I would do some keyword research, find as many related KW as possible, and start using them in some posts. And try to improve the optimization a little. Your description tag could be doing much more for you than it is now. :)

Interesting, so sometimes if you have an exact wording in a field of less competition then this is perfect...provided you catch the right biz !

I would say so, but this is more important with parkeing then developing sites. When you park a domain you don't have much to work with. SEO options are limited and often the parked domain really only has one page. This means that your optimization is the same for every page that is displayed, even if the content is different. This is not good SEO.

But if you can optimize each page as you can with a real site, then you can easily outrank any parked domain that is not optimized, and many that are. Keywords in the domain are a nice plus, but they generally won't stand up to good SEO and having a lot of content.

Like others said, the exact match keyword can do it pretty fast. Also the google toolbar can index your new site while you work on it even if you don't build any links.

Don't be surprised if the SERP rankings start slipping, often Google gives new sites a temporary boost then drops them...

I was wondering the same thing just the other day for one of my sites. I had forgotten about it. It is a crappy site. I used to have youtube ads on it.. but they stopped that program, so now it just has unrelated youtube videos on it.

The whole site is a mess.. It's terrible.. I was just experimenting at the time...

I haven't touched it for over a year.. and it is #3 on Page 1 google out of more than 66 000 000 pages.

But...when I use the exact term in Google keyword tool, the monthly search is only about 1300 month for "exact" and 27 000 for "broad". So, like someone else said, it's probably because I'm typing in the exact search.

keyword on your domain's url is the best way to dominate search engine especially google, like the other said your competition isn't fierce too, but make sure that your keywords searched by many people so your effort to get the first page not in vain

From my own experience, I think Yahoo favors site
that has exact keywords as domain name than Google does.

Here are my two sites that get higher SERP on Yahoo than on Google.

example #1: keyword - cocoon.
Google - #7
Yahoo - #3

example #3: keyword - computer hardware
Google - #11
Yahoo - #3

Is it possible that Google's personalized SERPs may be influencing the results the OP is seeing?

I don't think so.

I have one site relatively new get #8 - #15 depend on when I do search and mine has 32+ times more competitions than OP has with adwords costing about 6 times more than OP's keywords.

So, exact match keywords within domain name definitely helps.

Yes most people are right in the sense that the search engines give priority to exact match domain names
