Just type
whois domainname.com
into Google now and you'll be presented with a very fast whois lookup, courtesy of DomainTools.com. You'll only get the created on and expiration date, but this should at least give you another way to check availability very quickly.

Give it a shot:
http://www.google.com/search?q=whois+regfee.info

It doesn't look like .asia is supported yet, even though DomainTools.com supports it.

If a name isn't available, instead of presenting a message like "no whois record available" it simply presents you with a standard Google 'No results found' page.

Yes, this was very nice to come across! (Saw it on DP yesterday.) It saves a lot of time!

Add Google Whois to your FireFox Search Bar:

Navigate to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins

Copy "google.xml" and paste into the same directory.

Rename "copy of google.xml" to "googlewhois.xml"

Open "googlewhois.xml" using your favorite text editor (Go Notepad++!)

Find the following lines and change them to the next line:

Change:
<ShortName>Google</ShortName>
to:
<ShortName>GoogleWhois</ShortName>

Change:

Google Search

To:

Google Whois Search

Change:

To:

Restart Firefox, type a domain name into the search box, select GoogleWhois from the dropdown menu, click Search.

Enjoy.
