Whois look-ups as a gauge to domains popularity/value?

Hi,

I have noticed over the years that some domains that receive an overnight increase in Whois searches seem to start receiving offers. Also, most domains that I have owned over the years tend receive a good solid number of Whois look-ups if they're very solid and receiving lots of traffic.

My question is, does anyone use Whois look-ups as an additional tool to gauge their domains popularity/value?
