I just noticed in Rick Latonas newsletter that the domain names BlackEntrepreneur.com and Blackentrepreneurs.com are being offered for sale at $13,500 - so being a bit of a contrarian and curious to see what people think, I went out and registered WhiteEntrepreneur[.]com - is this a good name for a website ? Any opinions ?

I'm not sure if you're really serious, but this is probably the worst domain I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot).

The two referenced in your post are only slightly better and certainly not worth $13k. Firstly, it breaks the 14-character rule of domains, it's not acceptable in today's society to suggest that anything is for "whites" (not saying I agree but that's how it is), and lastly it's plural and hard to spell.

The first thought that crossed my mind when seeing this was to retire from the domain business and become a monk. There are not available words in the English language to describe the horridness of this domain. Plead temporary insanity and request refund. IMO.

Zero. IMO.

Best of luck with future registrations.

Thanks for the appraisal, I registered them mainly to see how people react. It just seems odd to me that it's alright to have 'Black' in your website (there are blogging networks exclusively for black people) but if you put 'White' it changes the whole tone. I might send them to Rick Latona's newsletter and see if they will put them up for sale alongside the Blackentrepeneur names or see what reason they give for refusing them.

In the past I've worked with professional development groups for minorities. They are really helpful for some people, especially people who haven't had a lot of networking experience. Those URLs make sense to me.

Totally Agree with MicroGuy!
Regfee

Google Search Results
1 - 10 of about 37,500 for "Black Entrepreneur".
1 - 10 of about 1,850 for "White Entrepreneur".

I think WhiteEntrepreneur doesnot make any sense..

Good Luck!!

Thanks for the encouragement Ron, although I'm not sure if you are saying that Whites are a minority?
James you make a valid point about numbers, but I sent the names to Rick Latona's newsletter anyway to see if they will list them, with a price tag of $6K each - slightly cheaper than the BlackEntrepeneur names.

I'd have to agree too, there's a big diff. in blackentrepreneurs.com and whiteentrepreneurs.com

With the latter being less valuable.

I never thought I'd say this but I completely agree with MicroGuy. This is a "Hall of Famer" for worst reg of all time. Entrepreneur is a bad domaining keyword to begin with because it's long and difficult to spell. In any form, it doesn't look like its sold for more than about $2k in .com.

There is a logic for BlackEntrepreneurs.com in that black people may get discriminated against in business. I don't think anybody should network on the back of colour, religion, sexual orientation, or gender, it just leads to most racism, sexism, and them and us which can only limit any company's appeal and expertise.

Regging something illogical and worthless like WhiteEntrepreneur.com for shock value is going to get people's backs up. For black people, you are disrespecting problems they may still have and for the vast majority of white people, you are trying to fan the embers of a fire that is pretty much out now.

I'm sure your only thought here is "Left" might be worth $13k, let's reg "Right", get people talking and make some money but that will never happen so you are wasting your time and getting bad PR for yourself on top.

Well the 'worst reg. of all time' has got to be good for something. But I didn't register it for shock value, like I said, I registered it for curiosity value.
I'm surprised that registering BlackEntrepeneur is seen as OK and people hardly bat an eyelid. There is also black news, black enterprise and blackfilm - and probably even Asian news, Asian enterprise and Asian film, and I dare say American news, American film and American enterprise, but the use of the word 'white' has somehow become taboo. It is a strange world we live in.
Bad PR for myself ? That's a strange notion. Who decides who should have good and bad PR ? I am just pointing out the way people appear no longer able to use the word 'white', except when it refers to soap powder of course and the White House, but maybe that should be renamed too.

I can see value in it developed as a parody of the BlackEntrepreneur site... not saying I like it, just see some potential!

I think Rick is losing his touch, he "gave away" a quad premium llll.com the other day, now he says these rubbish domains are worth $13,000, go figure?

"Black" is seen as a minority group. Whiteentrpreneurs.com is a bit like registering StraightFarmersSociety.com. When the name actually refers to the majority it becomes descriminatory because the minority is excluded for no obvious reason. That is why nobody is likely to touch this name.

BlackEntrepreneurs - are minority, means few things are regarded more in the crowd than usual things since whiteEntrepreneurs are usual. The point is BlackEntrepreneurs are more unusual than WhiteEntrepreneurs that's why it is more interesting and valuable.

I think that the double e (ee) kills it.
Seriously though, in several years this may be worth something more than shock value. Personally, I'd value the BE domains at low-mid $xxx, if that's relevant.Good luck.

makes sense to me. judging by the registration date (yesterday), it's not too late for you to get a refund for this domain.

Just my opinion but who do you think is behind this ongoing thing about black minorities. Most ordinary people do not see skin colour as a problem. To me Black or white use is equally distasteful. At the end of the day it is all about money. People who are behind all this inequality stuff keep driving it because it generates BILLIONS.
