God knows how many times I've had the agony of having to do godaddy pushes into another godaddy account and the nightmare they usually are

FIRSTLY

Is it really necessary to list all that stupid info for the new owner (in this age of identity theft its such a dumb idea to ask people for all that info)

SECONDLY

The more domains you have at godaddy the longer it takes to scroll through all those damn pages to find the domain you wanty to push, when you finally do - and God knows it takes FOREVER - often the godaddy page fails to load so you have to start all over again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THIRDLY

Ive also lost count of the number of times Ive filled out all the push info and confirmed it only to have to start again as having listed one name selected godaddy suddenly decides that you selected 0 names

I really despise their interface
If i go into my fab account I can push a name in 5 seconds
I won't even get into the TOTAL drag of having to accept an account change / incoming push

Why the hell dont they have a USER FRIENDLY system, rather than search through tonnes (uk spelling) of pages you search for the name you want to amend and be able to do it in seconds

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggh :yell: :yell: :yell: :yell: :yell:

You only need the buyer's valid email account for the push. You can just make everything else up. Even a "-" is suffice for most fields.

As for finding your domain, that's what the search is for :)

im aware of the email thing, but you should list all the correct info as its an infringement not to and the name technically can be taken off the new owner as his / her details arent correct

ok so theres a search for a name facility? thats news to me and i'll look into that

can you explain why their system is 100 times slower than any other registrar on the planet?

It is cumbersome...no doubt about that.

At least you can stare at Danica while you visit...LOL

PS: I still like GD though.

I agree that GoDaddy domain managing interface is maybe the worst in the industry. Changing whois contact infos takes hours while it should be done istantly as it happen with all the other registrars. The interface in the iFrame don't let you see more then a dozen names at once and is unbelivably slow.

Do you wanna buy a domain? No problem! Put the name you want here and then pass throgh an easy 56 steps process, including multiple offers that you will never want, domain names that you don't want to renew and variants of the name you'll never want to register. At the end type in a security code (what's that for??) and choose the payment option you prefer.

Ha, this is the best part. Do you want to pay with paypal or do you want to open a paypal subscription so godaddy can take money from your paypal account anytime they feel? ah, no matter what you choose. We will open the paypal subscription file for godaddy anyway.

And I'm talking about the express checkout. I won't even imagine the regular one.

For a stunning investment of $7.99 you'll have the feel to have just bought a real estate property or a car online, considering the complexity of the operation.

1 . only a valid email address is needed (as stub also said) ... after the new owner receives the domain they can correct their details to conform with the ICANN rules for correct details (they have plenty of days to make the changes) and therefore there is no danger for them losing the domain ...

2. the"Jump to:" function (the box in the middle under the multiple tabs) is very useful for finding a domain quickly ... also you can click "Search" from the tabs on the left which has many features ... also you can put your domains in different categories according to some criteria (eg. quality , periods you want to keep them for , prices you want to sell them for , sell-fast , drop/sell-next-to-nothing , etc) so that each category has up to 100 domains and therefore fitting in just one page ... also you can copy&paste many domains together by clicking "Bulk" on the tabs on the left ... lastly , even it does take some time to load sometimes , the page finally does load , just needs some patience sometimes ...

3. this happens because you have not waited until the page fully loads (when you see "Done" on the Status Bar) before you click continue/submit ...

the interface is quite good ... although it is rather slow at times ... it is very stable (if used correctly) and has many features ... I think though that if they web2 it in the future it would be great ... also they could/should make the push easier/faster ...

ilcesco - try googling "domain" for a $6.95 GoDaddy coupon ...

I agree with ilcesco the constant offers you get before you can complete the transfer is mind numbing. It is not even apparent that it has completed. Also why should you have to go through checkout for a free transfer.

Transferring out is not too much of a pain. But yesterday I transferred out 4 domains, first time I did it I noticed that the domain displayed below where you put the new owners details showed the wrong domain (however it was not ticked). I went back to ensure I wasn't transferring the wrong domain but of course the same thing kept happening (and of course I had to refill all the details in).

Lol I 100% disagree with that, at times it can be confusing and very frustrating. Yesterday when I was trying to transfer the domains I was clicking on the Domains tab to try to get to the list of domains I had not noticing it is javascript pop down menu. Of course when I was clicking on it I was just staying on the same page (although reloading). If they are insistent on using such menu systems surely they should deactivate that clicking so you can only click on proper menu items.

:

You don't have to scroll, just over the names at the top right there's a search box, just enter the dn and wala.

I'm surprised at the bad talk about the inter face, I really like it, it's very straight forward and simple. If a name is expiring in 90 days it's colored red with warning. The prices are low, customer service has been top notch for me and as a matter of fact I'll be purchasing another 10-20 today putting the names I have with them over 300.

I have names with Register.com, ipower and yahoo but have to say Godaddy is the best for me and ipower is the worst.

sorry, but if you fly economy class, don't expect to get a business class seat.
Godaddy is economy class: it gets you to where you're going but it is not comfortable.

Peter - I was talking about the Domain Control Center interface ... I think you are referring to the interface in general (eg. homepage) ... regarding the interface in general , I think it is quite good also considering the big number of differnet items that are available for sale ...

clicking on "Domains" (in the homepage) goes to the same page as clicking on "Register a Domain" in the pull-down menu , which can be very useful for a person arriving at the site for the first time ...

of course they can make it even better ... but I think that they tried to "give more weight" to stability and security than speed ... probably in the future they will try to make it faster also (eg. with web 2.0) ... also it was developed before w2e0b ( -----[]= <--- this is a plug lol ) became "mainstream" ...

Actually, I think they have the very best interface for controlling many domains. Even better than eNom's. The Bulk/Search features are extremely powerful for getting at your domains. I think they've slowed down the DCC recently to prevent so many "update in progress errors". Pushes are a tad painful. Transfers out are great. Transfers in are a PITA. Checkout is still a PITA. Their 60day hold on changing Registrant Info is a PITA. They're heavy handed approach in suspending domains is a PITA. Prices are very good. My wish list would be the introduction of something similar to eNom's Magic Folders, where you can store many different domain profiles.

If that's the same as placing the domains in portfolios, yes that would be nice. I'm not so sure you can't do that at godaddy.

not so sure about that, there are still some other registrars which offers decent user interfaces and services, up above GoDaddy and its idiosyncrasies, while standing in the same pricerange.

Nope. It's not the same. A "Magic Folder" is one where you can have specific settings for all the domains in the folder. Different, whois, nameservers, etc, info. It's a really cool and powerful feature, once you understand the concept. With GoDaddy you have your account profile and buyer profile only. You not necessarily want your account profile in your whois and the buyer profile is only for when you buy new domains which is a bit restrictive if you buy domains at tdnam, for example. You can of course create portfolios and then change all the info to the same but that is not the same as placing a domain in a portfolio and it automatically receives that portfolio's profile.

I've pushed 20+ names using GoDaddy and have never, once had a problem..

Trust me, I'm the first to complain if I do have a problem.. lol

Infact, I usually get a response within minutes to a few hours from a buyer that they have receieved the name.

I like the GoDaddy control panel, the jump to feature works well.

My only problem, and its a small one.. Is selecting an "A" domain and a "Z" domain at the same time to do a similar action..
