Just as an example, which one of these domain names is better for you:

1 -carsales.org?

2-carsales.net?

3-carsales.info?

I have always been advised that .NETt is the best extension to go for when .COM is not available, the second place should be for .ORG and third for .INFO

The problem I see is that in my opinnion people is more likely to click on the .info and this is more marketable as well, because while carsales.NET/ORG does not say much, .INFO gives the impression that it contains information about the product named on the domain name.

Would this be an exception of about when to go for a .INFO instead of .NET/ORG?

CarSales.net all the way.

.net

.org is best for non-profit stuff and many aren't yet aware of .info.

For a for-profit business I wouldn't go for a .org. And I'm not sold on new TLD's like .info. Which leaves the .net if it's available.

My order of choices:

1) .net
2) .net
3) .net

You COULD make a .org work if you can put an educational emphasis/spin on the site ... or if you were planning an industry site for car salespeople ... but if that's not what you're going for and the net's available, there's no point.

.info - Domainers are familiar with it, most other people are not. People aren't always inclined to trust extensions they've never heard of.

obviously .net (.org would be the best for a non-profit website, but "car sales" doesn't seem to be one of those).

Without doubt the net. I get annoyed at the com lovers that seriously believe .net is worthless. It's ridiculous.

carsales.net is the only one out of the three I would consider using, but I would take a ccTLD before .net if I could. (assuming I was trying to sell real cars)

Ok I get the message thank you for feedback. I will try and get the .net, I also take that .info is pretty much a low value TLD.

carsales.net has been registered since Jan 1997; are you saying you're planning on making an offer on it to the owner?
