Which of these .infos would you develop, and why?

Hi All,

I'm new around here, but having read quite a few threads I really appreciate the great advice and community!

On a bit of a late night whim I hand-reg'd a handful of mortgage related .infos, and I'd be interested to hear from some of the resident experts which (if any!) you'd focus on developing, and why; and which you'd leave for dead (and why).

FirstTimeMortgages.info

100Mortgage.info (100% Mortgage)

NewMortgageRates.info

TrackerMortgage.info

MorgageRates.info (intentional typo)

NewMortgages.info

95Mortgages.info

BestBuyMortgages.info

BestBuyMortgage.info

And if the answer is none, be honest. I won't be offended, and I'd rather have wasted the $9 reg fee than waste hours trying to develop dead-end domains :red: , but in that case I'd love to hear what you'd look for in a domain instead.

Many thanks, and looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Matt.

Given the state of the economy, especially the housing market, I'm not convinced mortgage related sites have the potential they once did. Banks of tightened lending standards considerably and for those few who qualify, the rates have been low for some time.

I agree. I like these but not a whole lot. I wouldn't develop any of them right now. But they might be good for developing later on :)

Matt,

I'm not a resident expert but hopefully can add something useful.

First of all, when you say "focus on developing" that could mean so many different things.

What do you mean by "developing"?

My fave of the list above is: MortgageRates.info

That is a perfect candidate for development for a Mortgage Rate watch site.
--

NewMortgageRates.info is good.
--

FirstTimeMortgages.info good but singular would be better.
--

100Mortgage.info to mean "100% mortgages" is okay but untimely considering all the mortgae defaults. Lenders don't want to give 100% mortgages.
--

TrackerMortgage.info - I didn't know what a Tracker Mortgage was.
I had to look it up. If you developed this domain you'd also probably have to educate the masses.
--

95Mortgages.info same comment as for the 100 Mortgage. Plus singular would be so much better.
--

BestBuyMortgage.info
BestBuyMortgages.info - I'm not liking these two.

BestRateMortgage would be so much better, I think.
(BestRateMortgage.us is available).

Matt, if you go through all the extensions (com, net, org, biz,us) of your .info domains above . you'll see how many of the registered extensions are just Parked pages or don't resolve.

Find domains that are actually being used and developed especially those that have show end user interest.

Thanks of all the responses so far.

Archangel, mhdoc - I take your points regarding the economy & housing, especially for the 1st time buyer related ones.

Tricolorro, thanks for taking the time to go through them individually.

By "develop", I'm thinking that I'd have to put up sites with meaningful content in order to rank in search in order to pull in any visits to convert to clcks, as whilst these are 15K-50K search-per-month phrases, they're not .com, so won't benefit from type-in traffic, and aren't previously developed, so don't have any residual link traffic.

I'd agree on MortgageRates.info being the better of a poor bunch if it wasn't for the typo squat :| , but for some reason that specific phrase (with typo) gets reasonable (long-tail) search traffic on google, so it might otherwise still have merit. (economy)

The BestBuy ones - I couldn't really understand where that search phrase was coming from, but as both were available, I figured that for the cost of a Coke I'd take them.

I agree, but of the list I was checking against (top 200 search terms with >20K searches per month), these were about all that was left in all common extensions! :) (Maybe that should have told me something - like find a better topic to reg. around!)

Erm, wouldn't those be owned by someone else then? :hehe:

Thanks for the pointer to the ebook - I'll have a good read.

Cheers,
Matt.

Welcome to Namepros...

I like NewMortgageRates.info the best. If I were you I would focus development on this name and either sell or hold on to the rest.

What I like the most is that it connotes new and fresh information on mortgage rates. While rates have not been changing much lately, from my experience that just means that at some point in the future they will change like crazy again. I don't know what they call it, the banker's cycle mebbe? By developing now you will be ready for rate volatility when it eventually happens again :]

I advise that you not even consider developing the typo, for obvious reasons.

Matt,

Sorry I didn't realize your domain (MorgageRates) was a typo.

Developing it could work in the .COM but will be a waste of time in the .INFO.

So my first choice would be NewMortgageRates.info.

"wouldn't those be owned by someone else then?"

I meant sometimes you'll find a domain is registered in all extensions but maybe the .INFO is available.

If you check the dom

You are on the track with some top names there..its just too bad they are .info as there are many reasons why .info never do so well. Google hardly ranks them at all if at all and nearly nobody types.info after a key search. But that's not to say they won't get hits at all. It could work out well when serachers type something like 'mortgages info' into google, if you have been indexed and have good enough content then your site is likely to show.

I like the fact that you have a practical combinations of keyword domains targeted at the same niche. Good luck with that

oh and the only domain I would consider using there is your newmortgages.info as it contains two valuable keywords that are serached for more often than your other choices
:)
