Hello everyone,

This is my first post on NamePros, and as a beginner, I'm excited to be here and learn from the community.

I have a question regarding landing pages and marketplace strategies.

Currently, 95% of my domains are registered with Porkbun, and I have listed them across multiple marketplaces, including Porkbun, Sedo, Afternic, Saw, and Atom.

Initially, I opted to use Afternic's lander to take advantage of their commission reduction from 25% to 15%. However, I found it frustrating that I cannot receive inquiries directly and have no visibility into the negotiation process. Additionally, I’ve read feedback from other users regarding slow updates, which has led me to explore alternative landing pages.

I came across NP Lander, which is sleek and well-organized, but I have some concerns. It requires manual domain additions, it is not a marketplace itself (meaning I would need to use a third-party escrow service), and as a beginner with no sales experience yet, I am still trying to understand the full sales process.

Yesterday, I discovered that Porkbun offers its own lander, and I was surprised I hadn’t noticed it earlier. I tested it out and found it very efficient—it seamlessly integrates with their marketplace, requires minimal setup, allows sales within 60 days (correct me if I’m wrong), and enables me to add text to my listings. Most importantly, I receive buyer inquiries directly via email. With only a 7% commission, this seems like an excellent option.

Given these points, I’m considering the following strategies:

  1. Use Porkbun as my sole lander while increasing my Afternic prices by 20%.
  2. Use Afternic as my primary lander since they have the highest sales volume.
  3. Diversify my landing pages by using 2–3 different options.
  4. Use NP Lander exclusively while increasing Afternic prices to compensate for their higher commission.

Additionally, I’d love to hear your thoughts on pricing strategies. Is it a good idea to set higher prices on marketplaces with higher commissions? Would this negatively impact sales conversions?

Looking forward to your insights and advice!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Just experiment and rotate? :xf.smile:

Registrar marketplaces are convenient during the 60 day lock, but their payout options are usually very limited (e.g. Paypal only at Porkbun) and "lease to own" either very restricted (Dynadot) or non-existent (Porkbun?).

Hi

if your domains don't get any visitors on their own, then using a marketplace that has lots of traffic would be advantageous.
from there, you want to consider which one has lowest commission when using their NS.
word of mouth, customer reviews should always be considered.

increasing prices to compensate for fees, could have negative effect, depending on the name and if it's already overpriced.

currently, i'm using sedo and afternic pay per click landers.

imo...

I agree with you about rent to own feature but we can negotiate if the buyer needs it so I'll make him buy through Afternic, I think I'll have to use each and see the differences based on my domains

Thanks for the advice, you have a point here but I can't tell yet if my domains will have high traffic or not, may I ask what percentage of your sales came from the Afternic marketplace and not their landers?

The highest lead generator will be afternic but from my experience, 95% are rubbish leads. Since I started using my own landers I only get good leads

All people that you see here have the same problem!!
the fact!! there is no place to sell your domains!!
1-list with sedo mls
2-list with afternic FT
3-point your lander where you feel happy!!
4- list at as many effective!! places as you can!!
- be patient!-
"assuming you have good quality"!!
Hard luck 🤞

Hi

afternic doesn't have a marketplace per se`, unlike sedo which does
all leads on afternic either come from godaddy searches or are direct type-in to the lander.

imo...

Porkbun’s lander is a solid choice with low commission and direct inquiries. If maximizing exposure, Afternic’s reach is valuable. Testing multiple options can help find what works best.

4. Use NP Lander exclusively while increasing Afternic prices to compensate for their higher commission.
🏆 #4 is the best option. 😁

as a beginner with no sales experience yet, I am still trying to understand the full sales process.
For priced domains, our integration with payment providers makes it very easy for both buyers and sellers. You'll be notified when payment is received, and then you simply transfer the domain name to the buyer.

You can always ask us or the community if you have questions with anything along the way.

We're here to help! 😊

I love the look of NP Landers, however that 5 days ago ive recieved a lead on one of my domains with a full price inquirie and has sent him the email for the transfer but he didnt reply, i think if it was a direct payment gateway he couldve only checkout (in case of Porkbun for example), that was my first lead ever thats why i feel sad :xf.laugh:

Did you enable Escrow.com and/or PayPal as a payment method? Those are direct payment gateways that allow for immediate payment.

I love the look of NP Landers
Thank you for your kind words. 😊

Immediately begin using the namepros landers. I have not read others replies in this thread but they are clean and easy to use (as long as you have some negotiating skills).

List your names for sale at all the major marketplaces with MAKE OFFER so pricing confusion does not become a problem.

Also, if you use Dynadot as a registrar, their pages are easy to use especially if you have names priced for BIN purposes. Best of luck...this is a tough racket! :xf.smile:

If the domain lacks quality where you list, it does not matter it will not sell. However, if it's a good domain listing as many places as possible opens you up to a good sale. Nampros landers is best IMO.

There is a huge choice of landers. see here

https://www.namepros.com/threads/mega-list-of-landers.1337766/

take your time and learn (starting at NP is a great start!)

Whatever landers you choose, always list on Afternic and Sedo. From my perspective you should then test landers (rather than sticking with one). If one fails, your whole folio fails. Better to be 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 (or something like that) while learning.
