Lawyers or Attorneys

Google trends says that 'lawyers' gets about double the search volume of 'attorneys', but the Google keyword tool states the opposite.

A little confusing to me :-/

What do you make of this? Which is the stronger keyword?

that's strange... i would also be interested if anyone could shed some light about the discrepancy.

i personally prefer "lawyers."

Lawyers is definately a stronger keyword as I believe "attorney" is only used in America?

In other English countries, we have Lawyers only

Good point, but that still doesn't explain the search volume discrepancy displayed by google trends and the keyword tool. Hmm :-/

Anybody have an idea ?

I think lawyers is more stronger then attorneys.

If you're using Google Keyword Tool, Attorney almost doubles Lawyer whether you use International, US only, broad match or exact. Most phonebook yellow pages use Attorney and other similar advertisers fall right in behind them.

And if you compare a number of their definitions you might see, in some cases, that Attorney has a slightly broader definition.

Lawyers are more generic than attorneys, it is also more common worldwide. Also, lawyers are more near from the root word "law". Attorneys maybe more popular in the hot-trends for a given time.
