Hi,

Which are the best HTML editors currently available that you are using?

I still use Dreamweaver 4 but need a more powerful and current one. Basically, what I am looking for is:
- Free, if possible. Or affordable.
- Ability to create table-less designs (that is imperative, since I need it for SEO purposes over graphic design)
- Ability to visualize code, concurrently with design, like in Dreamweaver.
- Ability to easily update and modify content, per page or sitewide.
- Ease to incorporate CSS and basic PHP scripts.

I guess you got the idea, something that allows me to design, and manage, a site quickly at the same time that I can make little changes myself and does not cost me an arm and a leg for that.

Thanks in advance for your input.

WYSIWYG works good for me.

I use Dreamweaver 4 myself, still.

And if I am not mistaken (which I very well could be - lol) I can actually do everything you have mentioned there in DW4 :)

I say if you REALLY need something "better", then go ahead and make the change whether it is at a cost or not, but DW4 has been great for me!

I know NVU / Kompozer is free but I'm not sure if it fits all of the criteria you mentioned. Its still worth a look at though, its free after-all!

www.nvu.com

Do a search for kompozer, its an update for NVU, I don't think NVU is supported much anymore.

Dreamweaver.

It's the best I've used, but I've only used that and Frontpage, and Dreamweaver blew that out of the water. But I can do everything you listed with it. I do CSS, and incorporate php code.

Thanks to all of you, guys.

Think I will get a book and read more about DW 4 and learn more about it.

Appreciated.

For WYSIWYG editor: Dreamweaver (DW). The sites setup, FTP upload easily handled, and site-wide find & replace is hard to beat.

I found a few bugs with DW:

- ftp sometimes times out, app hangs and have to restart (when this happens I use FileZilla to transfer)
- when editing form field names through the properties box, get fatal exception error
- with latest version of DW & WinXP, corrupted core javascript files so had to rollback and reinstall MX and it works fine

and some days no-frills Notepad & FileZilla work fine too.

For CSS proggys, I like TopStyle by Bradsoft:
