advice Which domain registrar do experts prefer?

As the question is pretty self explanatory, please let me know where do most top domainers prefer to register their domains as i have read many comments not only on namepros but on other websites regarding registrars like godaddy, namecheap and others upselling domains that users seem to like.
Is there any way or any place to search for & register domains without the risk of being quoted big $$$ ?

if the name is available then the price you pay is whatever it is the cost to register it. If its not available, the price is based on what the owner wants, usually you can negotiate but if you are not good at it ask someone that knows how to.
