Which domain is best for SEO? S2Games vs SGames

Hello,

I have developed a website for a game that is coming out in the near future. The (example only) domain choices I have are:

xyzabcgames.net
xyzabc2games.net

Where, "xyzabc 2" is the name of the upcoming game. The game is actually the second version of "xyzabc", so xyzabc2games.net makes more sense, however I have registered both domains and am unsure which I should be using and which I should simply have redirected to the other.

Currently I am using xyzabcgames.net and redirecting xyzabc2games.net to xyzabcgames.net - my reasons are:

1). The website logo was easier to design without the "2" in the domain
2). There are currently more searches for the terms "xyzabc games" than there are for the terms "xyzabc 2 games" (although I anticipate this will change when the second game comes out)
3). I personally like the domain because, it is 1 character shorter, plus it could be usable for ALL games belonging to xyzabc in future if need be since it doesn't refer to any specific version/sequel to xyzabc but rather both the first and second game.
4). I often use the phraze "xyzabc 2 games" within the website anyway, as well as the META description on nearly all pages.

So - will having both domains linking to the same website mean I can get ranked highly for both of the above search terms, or will the number "2" not even affect the rankings? I am aware that "exact match" in the domain name will help with the rankings based on the search terms, however I am unsure if the number "2" will make any difference or not.

Which domain is best in your opinion in order to rank high for search terms "xyzabc 2 games"/"xyzabc games"?

How about you ask the Game Manufacturer about their opinion, i am sure they will give you some "Advice" about cyber squatting.....

Please don't just assume I'm doing the wrong thing here.

It is a fan-site and the company gives away a fan site kit and everything... there are already around 5 other fan-sites the all the same.

try the domain without the number. You can find more relevant outbound links without the numerics.

This will also protect you against trademark infringement.

Let me know if I can help.

Best to you,

Best to you,

A name is protected by the owners rights, stating things like "This will also protect you against trademark infringement" is just wrong......

If this is the case good for you and i apologize but i still have my doubts:)

And just remember, a fan site with ads on it is still bad faith b/c u are making money of someone elses name :)

Say What?..... And say what?...... I didn't know it was wrong to advise someone to avoid Trademark infringment.

There is nothing wrong with advise on avoiding TM infringement but there is a huge difference between"avoid" and "protect"

Just leaving the number out of the TM name is just not protecting from the fact that it is still a TM name e.g soldieroffortune2.com is still soldieroffortune and belongs to Activision

Hope this was a bit more clear...(i am not a lawyer and this is no legal advice) :)

choose the one without number, it'll be more valuable domain and easy on typeins. Also, choose a .com one, if you're just starting the site, find a 2 word .com domain. You don't have to use game's name either, as you may eventually have other games on the site.
