System 1 is probably "better"

It depends on your needs, though. Are you going to be programming/working, doing 3D rendering, or gaming most of the time? If you're going to be doing mostly games, then go with System 2.

If you plan to be doing photo editing/illustrating/graphics/programming, then System 1 might fit your fancy.

the only game i play is Americas Army i mostly use my computer for domaining or creating sites, so you think system 1 would be better? :)

System 2.. You get a Dual Core CPU, PCI-E MB, and a 128MB Video card.. You can buy a stick of 1 gb RAM for about $50..

Even if you don't play many games.. Visiting graphic extensive or even using XP with a onboard will be extremely choppy.. Even a 128MB Vid card is better than nothing.. The dual core also accounts for the other GB of RAM.. Once you get that (Highly suggest getting a 1GB stick next ;) you will be rocking)

System 2 is better, Its faster and Good for graphics too. Dual Core CPU too. Better take the ASUS Motherboard. Since VGA is on board its better you buy another 1 GB Ram with it.

I'm not a big ASUS fan.. Personally I got a Gigabyte and I could never have been more happy.. But for the average user a ASUS is probably better.

system 2 was on my mind and seen it before i seen system 1
a stick of ram (1gb) is $85 here.
i might get system 2 and then later on buy another stick.
better then being on 512mb :P
thanks everyone. :D
Edit: i had a gigabyte board and actually loved how much better it was compared to this intel one i'm running.

Than I would say system 2.. Personally from my prespective if you want to do anything in the future you will need atleast a 128MB Video Card.. Onboards are so choppy..

Atleast with 1 GB you can always upgrade if you need to :) Plus PCI-E allows for gaming if you suddenly become a gamer.

The E2160 is dual-core (in fact, the line is called dual-core, go figure). Appearentally it overclocks very well, though if you're buying from a major manufacturer you might not be able to. The 6200 is a peice of junk, if you really want a video card you might as well just get the cheaper computer and get a new one. Even if you didn't, the 6200 is barely better than integerated (well I guess I'm exaturating, but it's not good). You didn't mention the mobo on the first one (just the brand, not the model), so I can't tell if it has an AGP or PCI-E slot, but if so, you can get a much better video card at a pretty low cost, much better than the difference in price and the cost of a gig of RAM (which is more than $50 AUD). So I'd say get the first one with the E2160.

well this computer here i'm running on is using a on-board graphics card (intel board) it runs AA but is kinda slow because of ram. also thats all the info i have on the computers, that was the descriptions.

Well, you can try contacting them and asking what slots the motherboard has... But I'm gonna let you know, the 6200 was always a budget card, and now it's 2 generations old. So I wouldn't buy a PC based on that particular card.

Also, they made PCI-E and AGP versions, so you're not assured to have a PCI-E just because you get that one.

They are pretty equal or so System 2 would probably outpreform System 1.. because the processor is better.. But it dependw what D series you get.. 840 is probably what you will get.

Sorry we arn't much help.. But honestly I would spend like $100 more and go to System 3 ;)

The Pentium Ds would not perform better. Here are some benchmarks, you can see the E2160 clearly performs better then Pentium Ds even better than the one you assumed he would get.

Here's some on some games: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/pentium-e2160_13.html

On top of that, those are at stock clocking, and the Intel Dual-Cores (yes that's actually the name of the line) overclocks much better than the Pentium Ds

Well the 7600GS is a substantially better card (I have one), though with a bad processor. What I would do is call up the company, ask about the slots in System 1. If there is a PCI-E (or possibly an AGP but I doubt there'd be one) slot then get that, and buy a video card. If there isn't go with System 4, unless you decide to live without games for a little while before you can save up for a better video card, in which case I would ask about the slots in System 3, and if there is a PCI-E slot (no way there's an AGP slot in a C2D mobo) then get that, wait till you can afford a video card, then get one. Until then, if you are happy with integerated you could play a game, though the performance wouldn't match up to system 4 without upgrading, though after upgrading (to let's say a 7600GS) you would get much better performance.

Caution: Only the newest apps can take full advantage of Duo-Core technology; legacy software will only recognize one core.

That is true but due to the efficiency of Core Duo, Core 2 Duo, and Dual-Core chips (though Pentium Ds aren't) they end up being much faster than Pentium 4s, even of lower speeds. An E6300 which is 1.86GHZ is faster than a 3.6GHZ P4, in everything I've seen benchmarks for. You probably know this but someone else might be confused by that.

Well knives, seeing how your on this site and forum i would assume you to be doing some multitasking so a dual core setup #2 will be fine for you its only 30 more then setup1 dont waste your money and go overkill, now you can always upgrade later and for alot cheaper then you could now.
Its simply a matter of finding the right compromise between need and want.
Most people always want what they dont really need and endup paying more then they should have.
imo
good luck
