Hi, I have a buyer looking to buy 2 names I own for $500 each

My names are at Namecheap

Shall I use

  1. Godaddy /Afternic Buy Now
  2. Namecheap Marketplace
  3. Send an invoice and push the domains to his porkbun account from my namecheap

Last time I used Godaddy /Afternic and the transfer/payment was smooth though I felt comission steep

What are the commison differences and ease of use

Thanks

Send them an Atom Checkout Link. Rate is 4.5%.

You could also add the domain names to Afternic and generate a GoDaddy Checkout link at 5% commission.

But they'd likely have to pay for renwals at GoDaddy and that's an extra $40+ dollar if both are .com names.

So Atom Checkout is your best bet. Look into that.

Thanks so much for your reply - I never thought of atom. Have you used this service before and what is the process , is payout fast via PayPal?. Also is this better than creating a business invoice and sending auth codes ( to save commission) thanks so much for your help

I have used them to sell and buy domain names.

Payouts to PayPal is instantaneous.

Using the business invoice and saving on commission sounds nice if you are 100% certain that you are not dealing with a scammer.

Even some real peope have turned into scammer when the opportunity presents itself.

Using a marketplace like Atom keeps everybody honest.

Thanks again -
Domains are $500 each, he has used godaddy listing at afternic before and it was fast
Shall I use this again vs namecheap where registered, vs atom

Sorry to bog you down, you are really helpful & better than chatgpt - god bless you, thanks for your advice

I'm not him, but spaceship is owned by namecheap. I think it will be fast. because same company.
namecheap will take 10%. Spaceship will only take 5%.

Afternic will take a lot of commission. not same company, so you'll need auth code I guess.

I never used Atom so I can't say if it's good or not. But a lot of sellers here are reporting sales on Atom, I guess it works too.

so you have two realistic choices imo: Atom or spaceship

The buyer's experience with a GoDaddy listing that was fast was likely because of Fast Transfer. If Fast Transfer is activated, the buyer gets the name immediately they pay for it. Almost like registering a new name at a decent registrar.

But GoDaddy does not have a Fast Transfer Agreement with NameCheap. So the transfer would not be as fast as the buyer's previous experience.

You would need to use the Auth Code and buyer would need to pay for renewal.

Your best bet is Atom Checkout. Buyer can choose to receive the domain name as a Push to their NameCheap account or transfer via Auth Code to a different registrar.

The choice would be up to the buyer.

But you'd be able to communicate directly with the buyer on the Atom platform.

If both of you are ready, the deal would be done in less than 10 minutes.

Plus if you have any questions about the process, you could easily reach out to their Support via livechat. They are fast and helpful.

By the way, be sure to use the 4.5% commission checkout link to initiate the transactions. Ask their support for assistance if you need help finding it.

Good luck on your sale!

DomainEasy charge 0% commission (for now). I've bought and sold tens of thousands of dollars of domains through them and it has been great. If lowest commission is your goal, DomainEasy is the best choice.

no landers dont sell domains
"According to Afternic, between 40% and 60% of domain name sales come via a domain name's landing page."

"Frank Schilling once said that it's the industries 'dirty little secret' that the vast majority of domains sell via direct navigation (aka landing pages)"

Etc.

PayPal and Stripe cost the least.

Our landers currently support PayPal and will soon support Stripe, too. 😊

isnt sedo 3% for your own lead escrow
It depends on the payment method used:

"There is an additional 3% express processing fee added for payments over $500 made using Alipay and PayPal and Credit Card." —Sedo

Sedo's price list says, "Upon request, we will also assist you in dividing the fee between the buyer and seller." However, it doesn't matter who pays the fees because extra fees mean less money for the seller in the deal.

The same situation arises when buyers hire brokers and have to pay 20% on top of the price that they offer the seller. Those fees still impact the seller even when the buyer pays them because then the buyer pays you (the seller) 20% less from their budget.

If you want to keep more money from your domain sales, Namecheap Marketplace through Spaceship is a great choice. They only take 10 percent, so you’d get about $475 for each domain. It’s also super convenient if your domains are already there, and they usually pay out pretty fast.Afternic is another option, but their fees can go from 5 to 25 percent, which could mean losing around $100 per sale. If you trust the buyer, you might use PayPal and transfer the domain to Porkbun to avoid marketplace fees, but that can be risky unless you use something like Escrow.com In the end, Namecheap is a good mix of low fees and easy process
