.mobi Where to report .mobi violations?!

Hello .mobi fans,

I have found a site that is in non-compliance with .mobi standards. Where do i report .mobi violations. Ironic considering a press release was used by dotMobi to proclaim the company has chosen .mobi. How ironic is that?!

The site in question is: http://cerkle.mobi/

May I ask why would you bother? Theres probably thousands of them and right now we need all the .mobi extensions be them compliant or not out in the public imho.

Why bother?! Oh well I guess the entire .mobi ideal shouldn't be bothered with!?!?

I find this incredibly ironic. The registry making the rules allows a company to make a .mobi non complient site and then PUBLICIZES it for them!!?!? At least mr pinky brand should spend his advertising dollars on something that actually conforms to their rules -_-.

Exactly, why bother? .mobi needs to get out there period. I'm sure after awhile they will start cracking down if they can.

i appoint damitsam as the new compliance officer.

Thou shalt makith all .mobi sites compliant immediately (god actually left this one out when he wrote the 10 commandments.. i think it got replaced by "thou shalt not kill" or some other filler)

Thanks mjnels,

I am honored. I will be searching for a form to report such violations. Unfortunately, I cannot find one. Please do let me know which .mobi official i should email.

Actually, as a mobi enthusiast, I wish there were a place to report the blatantly non compliant sites. When mobi sites don't work on capable mobile devices it erodes the strength of the tld and is bad PR IMO. If mobi sites don't work on mobile devices, it is hard to see the point of the tld.

Cerkle.mobi scores a 5/5 on the Mobi Ready Report (dev.mobi)

Can anyone access the site on their phone?

MobiPolice.mobi is open, perhaps this could be a good thing to reg and start up! Non compliers could be rounded up and forced to renounce .mobi!! Or forced to turn in their .mobi address and replace it with a .biz one!! Maybe... even forced to read all the anti .mobi threads.. over and over and...

Any idea what went wrong the first time?

I agree with the OP. .mobi should enforce its compliancy rules right now as they claim they do. That's the WHOLE point of this extension -- ALL SITES MUST BE MOBILE COMPLIANT. They should have a report feature somewhere on their site.

Hi there,

It seems like only phones will show the .mobi?

If I had to guess, they are using WURFL to offer a "PC" site for non mobile browsers. It is important to check a site on a phone or via the emulator before declaring it non compliant.

The site is using code (probably WURFL) to detect the type of browser accessing the site. If its a desktop browser, you see the full version. If its a mobile browser, you see the moble version. Mtld uses the same type of browser detection for their home site and dev .mobi.

I will send this message to the MobiPolice:

to: MobiPolice
cc: Mr P. Brand

Dear Mr. Damitsam,

I wanted to report a .mobi website that is in non-compliance with the standards. It is the WHOIS on mtld.mobi.

What are your sanctions?

Mobile mobi-whois user

seriously, I use the whois several times a day in my pda and its not mobile friendly!!!

Interesting... so all the .com owners could do the exact same thing?
