So, i read all these articles about mobisitegalore.com how it you design your mobi site with them, it will rank 5 out 5 in the test...

so i spend 2 days using their service, which is free.... to design your mobi site.

and i submit it to dotmobi, so they can showcase my domain.... guess what i get this email...

Thank you for letting dotMobi know about your .mobi site.

After testing your domain through our MobiReady Report (available at http://mr.dev.mobi), we found that your site does not meet .mobi compliance standards. Specifically, your site does not use XHTML Mobile Profile and your page markup does not validate, both are requirements for .mobi compliance. (These are also requirements for being listed in the .mobi showcase).

We hope you will take advantage of the development tools available at http://dev.mobi to bring your site into full .mobi compliance. Once your site is compliant, we will be happy to add it to the list of showcase sites and case studies.

Thank you for your support of the .mobi domain.

Well, it is about time someone mention this.

I had same experience with mTLD. I submitted dir.mobi way back in Oct and I got the exact same responce from mtld.mobi that "site markup does not validate". I then fixed the problem and got 5/5 and again submitted the site and still not included in the showcase.

Another thing they say it's a requirment that the site markup does vaildate for site to be included in showcase and still they list lot of site which fail the same test. Some of them like pumpone.mobi which fails "markup validation" and lot of other tests , was "site of the week" on their website. :|

Even their own site, dev.mobi , which they refer to use to make your site compliant, fails their own "mobile ready" test for markup. :|

Maybe we should see how many members got the same responce from mTLD.

Maybe you need to submit your site along with your mastercard # :)

I've seen some showcased .mobi sites fail the .mobi standards. I don't get it. Isn't this extension all about setting strict mobile compliant standards? They contardict themselves with their own site showcase.

Maybe we should ask this question to Pinky. IMHO.

How did it test on the report? 4 of 5, or 2 of 5?

Michael :)

Dir.mobi was 4/5 before I fix to 5/5.

Another one SellUsed.mobi is 4/5, which I submiited and also got the same responce from mTLD. I have not fixed it yet.

the funny part is, with site galore... once you are ready to publish... it comes out with 3 different errors..even though you rank 5 out 5.. for that same errors...dotmOBI will reject your showcase submission...so galore needs to do something about it...has anyone contacted them?

I think that mTLD's biggest things is to use the correct XHTML mobile profile.

Both of my sites did pass xHTML mobile profile test but failed "vaild markup" test only like many other sites in their showcase ( ex.pumpone.mobi) . I have seen even site with lower rating and lots of errors showcased.

Can I ask what sites you were trying to submit?

I had submitted my first .mobi site to them and got the same response. So, I tried complying with their "tester" - the MobiReady Report. I made enough changes to match their standards, but at the expense of some of the usability of my site.

I exchanged correspondence with them and they admitted having some problems with THEIR code in the M/R Report. They also said they would take a look at my site and advise me what changes to make. Of course, they never followed up.

So I started checking many other established sites - big sites - and most of them did not pass either. So I will leave my 500+ page site work the way it is and without being showcased. It is already getting 60+ unique users per day - and our resort season is still months away.

They have showcased several sites with very little functionality, so I am not impressed with their Showcase at all. I have done my own "validation" by testing it on many of the popular phones in use today. Ex: Chocolate and Nokia on the Verizon Network, RAZR on Cingular, Blackberry Pearl on T-Mobile, etc. That is, after all, the REAL test. Can our readers see the sites we have designed, or not?

I also got this exact same letter a few weeks ago which is why/how I found out about godaddy's mobi website builder not being in compliance for what I thought I was paying for.
The first thing I did was check the dev.mobi and came back with a score of 3. The same score it gave me, but with a few less errors.

I then checked dotmobi.mobi and it also came back with a score of 3 and had the exact same errors that my site was showing (Exactly)

I wrote them and wanted an explanation as to why my site wasn't good enough, and yet they had the same score. Just seemed a little hyprocritical to say the least.

Needless to say I am still waiting for a reply, and just took the wind right out of me (motivation) after building over 100 pages only to find out I was paying for a non compliant mobi website and was given a major run around from Go daddy trying to convince me it was an isolated case. The rep however didn't realise I had 2 different hosting accounts for 2 different sites, and they were both identical as far as dotmobi was concerned. After a couple hours calling them long distance (3 calls) they finally admitted they have been aware of this problem but have no idea when it will be fixed.

I have canceled one of them and probably will cancel the other after many many hours trying to at least get something up so I can learn as I go, sor-ta-speak, but really ticked me off after learning their site has the same score as mine, and by flat out being lied to from a go daddy rep.

I guess that's the price you pay for trying to get in on something as new as this, but I have zero intentions of submitting anything to them ever again.
