Where to keep my domains

Hi,

Currently this is my setup:

I have maybe half of my portfolio with GoDaddy and parked with them as well. Another 20% or so I have with Yahoo, another 20% with NetworkSolutions and the rest are at random places where I accepted free pushes from people, Answerable, Snapnames etc.

What do most people do in situations like this? Should I transfer them all to one registrar? If so, which one? Is it best to keep them spread around? Can I park domains with somebody else if I have don't have them with that registrar?

My goals are security and keeping costs down, as well as ease of use wrt development and being able to sell them/transfer them easily.

NetworkSolutions is very expensive, Yahoo isn't cheap either, so maybe get rid of those? Thanks for any advice!

you're doing a good job with it, keep it that way, add namepros.com as well.

I would highly suggest you transfer out of yahoo, heard some horror stories about them. I personally have most of my domains at 2 registars. If i buy a domain at an off the wall registar or its at one i do not like i ask the seller to pay for transfer costs, most of the time its no problem. NetSol renewals are expensive if i remember correctly, so if you do not want to pay $35, i think maybe lower i don't know, then i would transfer to godaddy or name.com personally.

i can recommend whypark as a good place to keep your names.
i make a hell of a lot more money than just sticking them at sedo.
have a look at the sites in my sig, they are with whypark.

I keep names at godaddy, moniker, dynadot. Any name I buy which is not at one of these registrars, I will transfer ASAP.

Yes, most parking companies allow you to use either nameserver delegation or url forwarding to park names, and most of them aren't registrars themselves.

I've heard that it's a good practice to spread the names around on different registrars but personally, I sometimes forget about some of my names that are with other registrars.

Also, some registrars don't allow you to transfer them if any changes are made to the domains, like renewal, or change of whois details...for 2 months after the changes. Godaddy is one of them....

Fabulous is having .com Xfer sale - $6.60-low price

Fabulous.com is a having a Transfer Sale where you can Xfer in your .com for $6.60. Cheapest I've seen. I think that may be until the end of the month.

I have a bunch scattered around and I have lost some of them to forgetfullness and inexperience, so, as someone who bought a couple of thousand (mostly CR*P) domains before I knew what I was doing -- not that I know yet, but I am certainly LESS ignorant -- I recommend consolidating them in a couple of main and major registrars.

Best of Success,

Bobbylev
