Hello, I'm young yes i know. At the age of sixteen though it is easy to see that I could be very advanced in my designing techniques. I myself think I have gotten extremly good at what I've loved to do as my hobby for the past 9 years (since i was 7 with my first computer, first thing i did was learn html) My question though is to the pro's for those of you who have made some successful earnings doing this as a job. I want to know where I need to go to pursue my dream of being a designer. I already have the skills and knowledge and would like to know where I can take them in a financial way. What type of things do I need to set-up and upload. Any good idea's for portfolios, or a site to describe my occupation. I would like to have some help in these matters. Also prices and all of that. Anything would be helpful. Even if it's a little 2 cents. Thank You/

Brad

Great way to start is to get your portfolio up. Go to all forums and show off your work. Many people go there and if they like your work they might contact you for some work they need done. The greatest way to be known in word of mouth. So always be nice, and if you do great work your contact will probably say he is a great web designer and they will contact you. Always have your portfolio updated with your recent work. Go to contest forums and compete. Not only will you win hundreds of dollars sometimes they will hire you for future jobs. Be agressive. Ask companies, or people if they need a website done, or their coding is weak and you should do it over for them. When setting up your portfolio get hosting from a reliable host so it will always be up. Your portfolio is what your clients will be seeing so make it user friendly. You should include a short biography of yourself for them to get to know you. Make the text easy on the eyes and check on all the browsers and see if it look normal.

For all your clients you should have a contract. Just stating the purpose of the site, the hosting, domain name, graphical content, features of the site, delivery date of the website, time quotes. And always get a down payment incase your client backs out mid way through. Go to a lawyer and have him/her go over it with you. Not only does it protect you and protects your client.

For writing proposals to possible clients always write it with perfect english. Don't try to be funny, and keep it short.
Hope this helps a little bit.
