Nearly every name i have is hand registered if i was to buy a domain from expired it would be solely for traffic and will dump it if when exhausted. I will also buy names that are spammed as they don't even own the domains if i catch the drop first but never from the spammer but if invited to the game then play ball.

Most names I've bought in the past year were from GoDaddy auctions, Snapnames, and Dropcatch/Sav/Docky/Dynadot auctions.

I avoid especially the auctions involving expired or expiring domains.

The impication of those domains were that they weren't able to sold or effectively be used before.

Perhaps some investors find some goodies among those marketplaces. To me, the comains have a history that suggests otherwise, so my preference is to avoid them.
