    Hi NPers,

I'd like to start developing a few domains I own while I wait for offers on domains to come through as I'd like to have another income stream to at least pay for my renewals or reinvest that cash into better names.

The problem is that I have a full time job and I don't have much free time to learn Web development by myself -- Yes, that's an excuse but I'd rather pay someone to get my site up first while I learn on the side rather than wait until I learn everything and then start developing it.

I will focus mostly on my local market as I own some nice gems in my CCTLD and the competition is almost nonexistent.

For example, I own the name JuegosGratis.com.py (Free Games in Spanish). This term is searched 33K times on average per month in my country with a CPC of $0.10. I'm thinking if I develop the site as a games portal like Juegos.com I can make some decent cash every month.

How would I go about it? What I'm asking is where can I hire a person to create the site for me and do the SEO? And how much should it cost?

Another example could be a blog about VR but I'd like to outsource everything -- the articles, the SEO, and everything in between.

Where can I hire good developers to accomplish this?

    Thank you in advance.

Use Wordpress or Joomla and save yourself a whole lot of $.

Basic sites are easy to do this way.

I am a dev and I can tell you we are not cheap.

Unless you need some serious development just do it yourself with Wordpress or Joomla.

You can set up a simple site for yourself in just a night or two after work.

I think you need to factor in a few things here mate. Just off the bat, a decent site with good quality content as well as an effective SEO strategy from a reputable service provider is not going to cost you less than $1000 (thats being conservative)

Now, with 33 000 searches per month...lets say best case scenario for that search term you get to position 1, this would give you around 50% of that total search volume as traffic to ur site... thats around 16500 visits per month. Now from there if you get lets say a good click thru rate on ads of 5% ...then 5% of 16500 = 825 clicks.... if you getting $0.10 per click that means you are making around $83 per month... so your return on your $1000 investment will be about 12 months. Just something to think about mate...

Unless you intend to really learn the platform, stick to WP (plus a good security plugin) if you DIY. Can't tell you how many Joomla sites I've audited that either are or were hacked. Nothing wrong with the platform, but seems like many of its less experienced users suffer that fate...

I develop both Wordpress and Joomla, but specialize in Joomla.

If a Joomla site is set up properly it is pretty safe from hacking, but that goes for any site or platform.

Of course there is no guarantee, any site can be hacked at any time.

I agree - just seems to be more of an obstacle for the average non-developer to set it up properly, whatever the reason. Also can generate some ugly things from an SEO standpoint, but again, the key is "set it up properly." :)

Joomla was designed as a website system from the beginning, while WordPress started as a blogging platform and evolved.

I agree it might be easier for a novice to set up a secure WordPress site than a Joomla site, and because it is the most popular platform in the world there is more info to help a novice.

But both are good systems, although I am partial to Joomla.

Good SEO is expensive and time consuming. Regardless how you build a website, if your SEO is good expect a long wait for SERP to refresh and show your site on page 1.

Been involved in SEO for a very, very long time, and this is an understatement.

Getting to the first page of Google is extremely difficult if not impossible for popular subjects.

If you are in an unpopular niche you might have an easier time.

    True.

You can easily build up WordPress sites within few hours after getting through few online tutorials.

Find 2-3 blogs on it and try it yourself. Its very interesting indeed.

don't consult a webdesigner who has eye issues

it s one of the most complex tasks on the net to find a designer
    you want to work with

most will offer you unmodified wordpress templates
    from places like templatemonster
    and claim its their work

be carefully checking what they offer
and be prepared to waste money on junk

personally I would avoid wordpress and joomla
as you will have difficulties in modifing it to your needs
it is very unflexilbel if you want to dynamically include a domain database
and you will have trouble to pass tracking variables

and if you think I am wrong
ok - I am not intererested
I have many years of experience with wordpress
and know what I can do and what not

if you use wordpress and need some plugins
always be aware that very single plugin slows your side
and you need a very good server

You should say how many hours of development you expect to buy.
