Where are you selling your 3d domains?

I mean besides namepros obviously. Is the interest in 3d domains still up there or has it been a bit slower recently?

I tried my luck at sedo, and sold some small domains, and my 3d websites are going at sedo (or well, just 1 of them, because i had to pay for all the fancy upgrades to get it exposed).

Whats your experience?

Agree. 3d had it's claim to fame recently. The dust has settled now from the franticism it seems. Nothing big to report on sedo in the past few weeks or anywhere else.... that I've seen and heard. Still hopeful for the owners to find endusers or developers for all the 3d domains registered in the recent hype. I have a couple okay properties but I have no interest in selling them at the moment. There will be a better time with better opportunity hopefully in the future for 3d domains.

To be honest, the 3D domain hype does not seem to match the 3D domain reality.

There has not really been a major surge of premium 3D domain sales. It seems that most 3D fans are content to hand reg hundreds of average names instead of buying good names on the aftermarket.

In the last 2 weeks, reported, 3D sales have actually seen an increase in the average price paid, compared to any other 2 week period in 2010.

3dfilmworld.com Aug 2,2010 $1,000.00 Sedo.com
3dsmartphone.com Jul 30,2010 $900.00 AfterNic.com
cheap3dglasses.com Jul 27,2010 $1,000.00 Sedo.com

(Exceptions made for the private sale of 3dtv.co.uk for $22,650 and 3d.de for $27,928 at sedo earlier this year).

As far a 3D "hype", or news, a quick look at Goog Insights shows the graph currently going up and searches for '3d' at "+350%".

And, with Avatar: Special Edition coming to 3D theaters Aug. 27 --with "eight minutes of never before seen footage, including new creatures and action scenes", I expect we will see the "+1,000%" range spike in '3D' searches seen when the original film was released last year.

Bottom line... the 3D market is doing fine. Like any product, the best place to sell your 3D names are places where you can position the product / name in context with the (popular trend) market.

There are places like that... but you have to find, or create, your own conversations/forums/groups. IMO, the domainer forum is the most hostile 3D name market as any conversation, even this one that simply asks 'where to sell', is interrupted by others pitching other types of names, that they happen to sell.

Lets talk about the market for bottom shelf 3D domains, because we all know that is exactly what the 3D pumpers generally hold.

How are those domains doing?

To answer your question MrFrisky, I have found the most success comes from people contacting me via email and Sedo is probably the next best in terms of receiving offers.

I guess neither of you own any 3D domains, there are sales going on that arent even being reported and I know that. I have been getting offers on weekly basis on various names(up to $8K) and I have turned them down as I know the names will be worth more in the next few years.

I understand names like 3DToiletpaper.com won't sell and people are just crazy to reg names like that. You are better off buying in the aftermarket. I know 3D is not in full swing yet and it may take another 5 years before it is..., but to say 3D is finished and is gone is just plain naive

Just add some 3D terms to Google Alerts to see just how much news/articles are being writted about the technology. Maybe try these to start and see how you go.

3D Computer
3d phones
3d laptops
3d mobiles
3d tv
3d movies
3d games

Anyway, thats just my opinion....

Good luck with the 6G by the way...

This is a viable question in any niche. You preface your question with
the answer. A "bottom shelf name" is a bottom shelf name no matter
the niche. Meaning a bottom shelf "6g" name is no better than a bottom
shelf "3D" name ....

That being said I've seen a slow down in traffic and inquiries. I don't
mind because I think the position has a 2-3 year window. :imho: And a
couple of my 3D names are making a little parking rev.

To sell domains you have to have quality domains to begin with.
The venue is much less important than the domain itself.

I wouldn't say NP is the place to sell 3D domains, because everybody wants to sell, I don't see people actually buying.

I don't disagree.

But keep in mind that it is "bottom shelf" 3D domainers fueling the mile long threads about how their stuff will soon be worth big money.

I don't see a "6G is the future!" thread with a gazillion posts with names like 6Gformeandyou.com in it like we do for the 3D segment.

That wasn't directed at you. I would feel more comfortable holding a few in your sig than the entire lists I have seen from the people who have dropped hundreds and even thousands on regfee garbage.

Very true.
I have had some offers on my 3d domains, and i AM selling them but people seem to want everything for a low price so i mostly turn them down ;)

I didnt even know you can "report" a sale anywhere but just in case i will let namepros know. The 3d site im currently selling on flippa is getting a lot of attention and i got some private bids. Thing is, 99% of them pm-ing me dont want to put in an offer on the real auction because they are afraid that it will boost the price up or something..

I have had offers on 3 of my 3D domain names - sold one at Sedo and rejected offers on the other two names (one of them was a $xxx offer).

And as for the crazy attitude of some domainers who just register thousands of nonsense names, the real hurdle comes in when these names are about to expire. They are left with only 2 choices - sell them of $1-2 or let them expire.

Speculation is speculative at best ... I live in Las Vegas and
I don't gamble what I'm not willing to lose.

@DubDubDubDot .... I think it's more blind ambition leading
toso many poor names being regged. A desperate economy
and peeps with too much time on their hands due to so many
unemployed. But I do agree with you in that there is some
poor "3D" judgement being invested in.

My "3D" keywords are:

Animation
Animated
Graphics
Rendering
Forums
Fights
Tattoos
Movie Classics
Movie Tickets
New Games
Game Cheats

I would consider these in the traditional 3D scope of use.
I would have no Idea how to market a "3d helicopter". ;)
