Hey guys. Do you think that sometimes the .Org can be more successfull than the .COM? For instance I am planning on making a health discussion forum. I have two domains available: md2me.com and mdtome.org. Would the org be a better choice since it communicates more trust? Or would the .COM prevail? Thanks so much.

I'd say for many health related issues, the .org can prevail. But take a look at WebMD. They use .com and are very successful.

The point of the matter is that you can be successful with both extensions, it depends on the content you have and what it relates to, the quality of the content.

As a rule .com is always more valuable and gets more type-in traffic (people sometimes confuse both TLDs).
However .com is not always best suited. If your site is of non-profit nature .org will fit nicely. IMO a good .org is better than an average .com (but you need to think about which is going to be more rememberable, easier to spell etc).
Of course you can reg both and redirect one to the other...

I always associate .ORG with a professional/organization. It is used for charities, etc. And I agree, it does communicate a certain higher degree of trust.

But as mentioned, having the .COM would likely get you more type-in traffic.

Generally .Com gets more traffic than other extensions. Non-profit-organization.Org itself gets more recognitions.

Now, as "goodname+.Com/Net" is gone, people and companies have to turn to "goodname+.Org" if it's available.

first the name: I think md2me is better. if both .com and .net are available then reg both and point one to the other, otherwise either will do.

I totally agree the .org has always been portraid as an "organization/professional" type
Charities especially like this one! whether they have the .com I dunno but they always (or at least 95% of time) advertise the .org more...
World peace and Green peace type sites are also big on the .org

Back to the question at hand, yes :imho: I believe the .org could be more
successful than the .com
