No. I tried transfering a domain that was still active, but expired in 3 days and it couldn't be transfered because there was a chance the transfer wouldn't be complete by the time the domain expired.
Do you have to wait until your domain is no more than 60 days from expiration to transfer or can a domain be transfered even if it has a year before it expires? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Despite the no answers, it can be done. I have had it allowed. It is at the discretion of the current registrar though. You have no right to have the transfer be done.
Thanks RJ for the reply. The reason I asked is that I have 115 domains at a registrar that charges $25.00 to transfer a sold domain to buyer. If I have a buyer for one of my domains, it would be much cheaper to just transfer it to GoDaddy , where it can then be pushed to the new owner for free. How long does it take for a transfer?
A transfer usually takes a few days. Some registrars are more diligent than others though.
BTW it is a shame that some registrars are charging a fee for transfers out. One more good reason to read the fine prints for the hidden fees.
well bulkregister would not allow it to be transfered, tryed in godaddy. Had to renew at bulk $20, yuck. Godaddy said would refund transfer fee.....pending
Pending sale at TDNAM, we will see if it goes thru......second one with bogus bid.......if it does not......
