When is prom graduation dance

May i ask when the american high school graduation prom dance is normally held, i did look on google but observed a few conflicting reports , so i thought i would inquire here

varies on the school and school districts. here is Virginia, my son's prom is this saturday the 6th but he also went to one last saturday 4/30.

so there is no particular day/date moreso this is prom season so to speak. hope it helps.

i actually thought the prom dance was at the end of the year when graduation occurred ?
