For example

Amazon Go is to open Cashierless Stores

Does it make sense to buy or register domains like

Cashierlessstore.com ❓

CashierlessStore vs Cashierless-Store

I guess the best would be

Cashierless.Store 😂

Or what about

Metalearning ( Meta Learning - Metal Earning )

Agree, the best is cashierless.store of course.

If you own cashierlessstore.tld then it's not a bad idea to also own cashierless-store.tld - especially in such a case when there are 3 repeating (same) letters like the "s" in this case.

It's then up to the enduser which domain of both he will use for the website and which one he will use as forwarding domain.

It's not because hyphens are so sexy but simply for better visibilityyy
You should reg at Uni

If you mean the hyphenated version - no need (as I don't own the non - hyphenated version in opposite to you).
But I own some special hyphenated domains, mostly in .top

Cashierlesss 3 s
Schifffahrt 3 f

Also some words make sense with hyphens

I prefer NO hyphen whether regular usage or not. We can't use other symbols when needed, like commas. I say no to hyphens personally.

Another complication: A domain like Zwei--Eins.de would be "minus minus" and thus, "positiv." :-D

The equation reads as 2-(-1) = 3 LOL

When the non-hyphenated version is worth at least mid $x,xxx.

I've showgirl and show-girl both in /co

Funny thing, showgirl is compound dictionary word. But different dictionaries write it differently. Some with hyphen, some without!
So I decided to get both.

That example

<<Cashierlessstore.com ❓

CashierlessStore vs Cashierless-Store>>

I'm not sure helps, because neither is so great - the triple consonant versus the hyphen. (And Cashierlessstore.com is the same as CashierlessStore.com of course.)

If a domain is dominated by another niche and you have a use for it with an entirely different niche market.

For example:
- You are awesome at baking cream pies and you want to make a recipe website centered around cream pies.
- Creampie is a porn website.
- Creampies is a porn website.
- Cream-pie is available.

You have a dominating domain in your niche because the best versions are used in an alternative way that does not compete with your delicious cream pie recipes.

PS. I am not trying to be vulgar or funny, this is the only example I could think of at the moment. I hope it isn't taken badly and just gets my point across. Thanks.
