When do you know if your domain was caught?

I've been looking all over, but it seems there's no definitive answers regarding pending delete/drop catching.

Today was my first crack at drop catching, and I used Pheenix to set 10 backorders on pending delete names that ended today.

I understand Pheenix is no power house compared to Snap, NJ, etc, but I'm only looking to catch quality names at a decent price until I come across a name that I feel I absolutely have to have.

Now that it is a bit past 10:45am (the time that backordering closed I believe?) I'm curious as to when I will know if I caught the names or not. I assumed it would tell me right after it closed, but there still hasn't been any update or changes in the who is.

How can any company catch a domain, and display it, until it has actually been released/dropped by the registry?

You will be able to see it, once it drops, i.e., around the usual drop time.

That's basically what my question is. When is the usual drop time? I figured it would have been 10:45am.

The drop time varies, as per the other extensions.

For .Com's it is 06:00 PM - 08:00 PM utc

I usually find out from Pheenix just after 5PM EST if I won the name. If you do not find out before 6PM then you probably did not catch the name. Pheenix beats godaddy backorders around 75% of the time.

I would have thought Pheenix would have a far higher percentage than 75% compared to GD Backorders. Where did you get that percentage from?

I have been testing both. GoDaddy does win some. It may be names that are expiring from their registrar they have a slight edge but would still use pheenix if I had to make a choice.

An update. Over the last two days I tried to buy two delete domains through GoDaddy and Pheenix. Pheenix sniped both of them. Also, note that they were very slow in getting back to me this time. One name I got an email at 7pm and another around 9pm. It may have something to do with the holiday.

For us, if you're the only one who requested it and you have autopay on, the domain will be in your account within a few seconds after we catch it. For .COM/.NET that happens between 11:00am and 11:45am, sometimes going past noon. The 10:45am time, at least for us, is to allow time to get set up for the days drop.
