What's your monthly Bandwidth?

Hi all

Just wondering what your monthly bandwidth is.

My site hit 400 Gigs last month and is so far on track to do about 1.5 terabytes this month. From what I've been told, this is a huge amount. Thank God for unlimited Bandwidth hosts

So anyways, what are you getting?

what kind of site is it ....that does seem like a lot of bandwith .A friends site has almost 5000 members and over 1000 downloads and just barely uses 65gig a month

400GB is ALOT of bandwidth. Especially for 93 members.

And, as for the unlimited hosts, there is no such thing, technically speaking. Servers cannot hold 'unlimited'.

I don't really run any main websites, so I don't really have a bandwidth total to give!

My membership is low
I hate that but If i prevent hotlinking or make them member only areas (the traffic portions) then google wont index them.

the site in only 2 months old.

thats a hek of a lot of bandwidth for such a new site. probably all the uploading and downloading. my site's usually dont hit more then a few gigs a month.

Is it possible to pull 400 gigs on that?

Maybe your host is calculating it wrong :O

has it set up to +x amoutn of gigs :P

Or do a lot of people view your vids?

ya.. roughly 5-6,000/day with peaks of 18,000 a few times a month

Yup. And tons of hosting plans get people on that right there

BTW we were about to hit 2TB before we limited views. Now were back down to 500GBish / month!

If your jumping that much in bw limits, id suggest start charging for membership or having limits. Itll soon get out of hand.

In Kilobytes, my bandwidth since October has been as follows:

Oct= 103195761
Nov= 272024274
Dec= 410104714
Jan= 94459780

I ..of course am trying to find ways to fund this site. Membership however.. well.. tough decision there. I've seen it just destroy other sites.

Im hoping within the coming 2-3 months, once Alexa begins settling down on my name and Google ups my pagerank beyond its level 5... Things will happen.. (I hope)

There's no such thing as unlimited! This from lowesthosting.com's terms and conditions:

Unlimited Services
Unlimited is determined by a set of Internet averages for distribution of website pages including pages with embeded flash. Lowesthosting.com shall divide available resources by the number of users on the system. In the rare event that your website exceeds our averages, you may be contacted to discuss moving your site to another server or dedicated server.

Expect a call or email from them in the near future demanding more $$$!

I am thinking more that this means they will have me move my files to another server on their system.

even the first month, October was a gig in traffic, Nov was 2..dec. 4. I think they would have broken the terms if that was the case already.

Right now the thing thats eating it up is all the downloads and uploads. Downloading a mb file 6000+ times a day is alot. and this is only if the vid is 1mb and its still that video only. If you are going to run this kind of site I suggest getting your own dedicated server. Or you will need to control it more.

oh indeed. I just took on a partner to this site. many of the videos will now be hosted on seperate continents. (Namely Australia to begin with to handle Asia.

While we havent done this yet, I expect to begin this sometime this evening as I do my weekly update tonight.

How many members are there from the Asia/Pacific region?I guess there are many..
