I've just acquired my first LLLL.org - Atop.org - and would like to know what the market conditions are for this kind of names. Thanks

GoDaddyGoDaddy
Girl

Toys

Etc have good value

Atop? I see none besides reg fee or slightly above (reseller)

even saying that, "you bought your first LLLL.org" shows your mindset.

as opposed to, acquiring based on previously assessed marketability or usage applications.

imo.....

Hi Biggie, thanks for your post. A few clarifications:

- I did my due diligence before buying it, checked previous sales on DNSalePrice and Namebio, forum threads, etc.

- I know it's not a premium or commercial keyword, but not all domain acquisitions that later turn into a sale are.

- I paid a negligible amount of money for it, so in case the domain doesn't sell, that's a loss I definitely can afford.

- What's wrong with calling a LLLL... a LLLL? :)

I've only sold 5 of these in the past 2 or 3 years, for $400 - $1,000 each
I like the older llll.org because some of them have traffic, and they're usually dirt cheap. BuyDomains still registers them off the drop. I put a hold on buying them because I dislike taking money from nonprofits, and in most cases they ask you to fill a W-9 form or jump through other hoops.
good luck with yours

you call looking at some previous sales on those sites 'due dilligence'?

calling a atop.org a llll.org, is like trying to reference trickle down value from llll.com

rather than it being an 'acronym' for a .org entity

and that.....is what I meant by acquiring based on previously assessed marketability or usage applications.

not what some random four letter .org domain names sold for in the past.

imo....

I mean, among other things, I checked for past sales.

I'm sorry but I still don't see the reason why you think it's wrong to refer to these names as LLLL.org's collectively. Of course it's an acronym and even a dictionary word (I stated it in the thread's title).

I don't see the practical use as a dictionary word. Atop what ?

Girl is an example of a very good and usable dictionary word. Here the standalone domain doesn't lend itself to a clear purpose.

I agree. But 'girl' is on another planet. Of course you can't compare the two.

because "collectively" their value as a group (LLLL.org) is reg fee

when you point out the obvious, that being... it's a LLLL domain, when we all can see it only has 4 letters, then you're really saying nothing, extra.

therefore, there is no reason to value it above any other random group of LLLL.orgs

we all know many dictionary words are worthless as well, so unless you have a viable acronym or usage for the letters, then again, you're not saying anything extra about the name to give a higher perceived value.

but that's just my opinion...

Good Luck!
