Hi there! When selling at Dan com,do you have to show proof of identity as in a form of IDs or bank statement to show the you actually own the domain ? Maybe when a buyer pays for your domain what they request from the seller before authorizing the domain to the buyer.

You dont need to show a proof of identity , by pointing your domain to DAN namserver its proof you own the domain , and when buyer pay they request you to push the domain or you provide the auth. code .

Those are previous listings. You can use hosterstats to confirm. You can email dan support to remove the invalid listings.

Neues.org was dropped a few months ago. should the previous owner delete an expired domain isn't it? but it looks like you may be doing the same things? i saw several Dan accounts that selling unregistered domains.

ticket was created but Dan support on the weekend...

I answered your question then you accuse me of something, that is lame. Just trying to be helpful.

I rarely drop names. What are you on about? I don't even buy names like the ones you listed, never owned any of them.

I do not list unregistered names.

Imagine if everyone attaches screenshots of invalid listings here on NP instead of dealing directly with the marketplace. This happens on all marketplaces. Remember some members have thousands of names, they can easily miss some listings.

Why are you thanking my post?

You said it's my account. I am asking them to confirm for other members not you. You lied and I am trying to show people.

Seriously. You said I am doing the same. DAN will confirm. Why are you behaving like this? I just told you I have dealt with invalid listings myself involving PRO accounts. i never accused them of anything because i understand this is something that happens.

The seller verification is automatic if you insert the code they give you when you buy the domain. As far as previous owners not removing it happens all the time. DAN will push it into your account. I don’t know if it’s required but I send a screenshot with my request.

DAN marketplace requires no verification. Their system is incapable of verification it’s just a simple database presumably SQL just upload your names that’s it.

Other marketplaces such as Sedo or Afternic do varying degrees of verification of your WhoIs but all marketplaces have the potential for listings by people who don’t even own the domains.

Probably the best way to address this is to list all of your for-sale domains in all non-exclusive marketplaces that way if anyone tries to list one it will be disallowed since already listed by you. But be careful to include a BIN at - at most - one marketplace only lest you end up double selling it.

DAN does indeed have a means of verification, the best I've seen yet. You can add a third nameserver that is unique to your account, then re-add the domains (you may need to delete first). Go to settings > ownership verification to get your unique nameserver. Remove the names if they exist and then add again.

I assume you’re talking about using DAN landing pages. NameServers are irrelevant to a marketplace listing.

Landing pages - nameservers - have Nothing to do with DAN marketplace which has no verification whatsoever - just upload your names and they are listed unless there is a conflict with a name‘s being already listed. In any case, if someone else wants to upload a domain you own into DAN marketplace unless it is already listed in DAN marketplace there is no way to stop this listing from happening. (You must take action to remove it after the fact.)

Bottom line if you want to look at it this way: First guy to upload into DAN gets the marketplace listing of a given domain until / unless such time as there is a report of error.

Tagged @DAN.COM so that they can know of the discussion and, if they wish, comment on both their current verification procedures, and any future plans they have for further improvements.

Thanks for the explanation of the automated validation method, @Dave. I have tried the automated DAN verification with mixed success, Now I see I need to do is to try again to list after time has propagated for the third DNS giving my DAN ownership verification has had time to propagate.

The issue of old listings is way too prevalent in our industry. The verification at time of listing at Sedo seems to help the situation somewhat in my personal experience. I encounter far more old listings left at DAN and Afternic, sometimes for 6 months or more.

There is not verification at Dan (which is a big flaw) I saw once an account with many unregistered domains listed for sale! which I reported to Dan's support and they closed that account. That was surprising for me because checking if a domain is available is super easy and can be done with 1 line of code, I am not sure if Dan fixed that. Also sometimes you can find fake domains like generic one word .com s worth 5-6 figures listed for less than $500.
