My understanding is that PayPal is the higher risk in terms of chargeback like activity. Their policy is to refund first and ask questions later.

im sure they have their own pros and cons, when dealing with any online payments there are risks of course other than it's cash, still cash can be faked. at least involve escrow in your dealings U.S.$XXX and up.

thanks guys. to be honest ive done xx,xxx deals on paypal b4 :hi: , but only to homies i know well on dnf etc

i would prob do anyone on paypal at up to 500 within reason, no noobs

prob comes when you want a quick sale sort of mid xxx range and dont want to put buyers off with escrow and explaining evrything etc, i was thinking a google checkout button on sale page or something? maybe better than paypal, or do both. just that the forums are a complete waste of time for selling and want to focus more on enduser sales and passing traffic too, but want to be safe. imo parked pages dont make it obvious enough theyre for sale. most people hit a parked page and think ffs and dont think to scroll down and hunto for sedos tiny link, parked is better but even still.

im not so sure of that
in fact one of my biggest concerns with google is they think they're bigger than anything and you cant pick up the phone and sort stuff, once you find the link to contact them you seldom get the response you need if any

at least with paypal, although they all sound like cyborgs but you can ring and sort stuff, im leaning towards them or just tbh as almost all my domains are in at least xxxx may range i as well just put escrow link on page and be done with it

How much do these services cost to use? I ran into a similar situation with a buyer who doesn't have paypal and escrow seems too much of a hassle for the amount. Is there a lot of BS to go through to get it set up?

I wouldn't mind knowing how to ring them. Couldn't find a number.

Everyone says that PayPal refund first and ask questions later, but I was on the other end of the stick recently and it didn't work out for me that way.

I bought a script that didn't function as advertised and the seller had no clue what the script even did let alone being able to support it or help. I asked for a refund and they ignored me, so I put in a paypal dispute, which they also ignored, and paypal declined to help, saying that as I said it had been delivered they wouldn't reverse.

Seems like they only have rules that help scammers and liars that know the system rather than anyone that is genuinely ripped off, on either side of the transaction.

the Sedo escrow service is easy. You just email them both party's details.

The only extra mucking about a buyer has to do is to register a Sedo account, which takes about 30 seconds. Nothing else is different for them.

It's $50 or 3% of value, whichever is higher.

They let the buyer pay in almost any way they can think of too.

If the funding method of the payment is credit card, neither is safer.

However, in the case of PayPal, if the funding is from money already in one's PayPal account (not from bank account nor credit card), it may be relatively safe; the seller has a decent chance of winning a dispute.

An important caveat - a seller typically can't determine the funding method, since PayPal hides that info...

"Instant Payment" doesn't mean what many people think it does - PayPal credits the receiving (sellers) account even if the funds are not yet present in the sending (buyers) account yet.

While on that, from my understanding, though not certain, Mass-Pay can only come from PayPal balance. So Mass-Pay may be slightly safer to accept than regular payments, and costs way less.

Money wire and escrow are safest; one knows they have the money ... beats PayPal and other services in which chargebacks can occur months, even upwards of a year later!

I always thought sedo charged 10% or something like that. Either way, for some sales to non-domainers I'd prefer not to point them to sedo but rather have a checkout service I could use to process credit cards cheap and easy.

I've wondered about that too. If you're setting up your own sales site, as I think the OP is doing, why not install your own checkout process?

What does it take for the buyer to qualify for "mass pay" ? It's more than just having the funds in your account isn't it?
