So, as I understand it, I'm supposed to check the Overture # (OVT?) of searches and domains before considering them for purchase, to see how many people could show up at at my domains. That said, what does an overture number represent? Is it a straight-up, 1 = 1 person? Or is it more abstract than that? Does an OVT of 200 represent 200 people? Per month, or per day?

Generally, ovt represented the number of Yahoo searches per month. At least, I think that was it. Lots of other resources out there about the overture tool.

OVT is just an indication
It represents the queries of last month not the traffic you will get
It's a type-in lead tool, it doesn't mean names without OVT results will not have hits or the opposite

OVT results represent the number of searches on Yahoo and related engines. It's not always reliable but generally so. Figure you'll get anywhere from 1-15% of the OVT results (without extension) typed in on a .com name. The longer the keyword, the lower % probability it will be typed in. So imo, "good" is somewhat subjective because certain keyword names will have higher ppc rates than others, and you can make your reg fee back on just a few clicks a year. Others will pay like $0.02 / click so you need tons of traffic and clicks to get your money back. I use 1000 results as a minimum number generally.
