I'm sure everyone heard about the sale of MyWorld.com by who I would say is the Real Domain King ,Selling as what rick would call pigeon sh*t for millions. Not that this domain is bad but come on ,is this some kind of money laundering scheme. I asked myself H.T.F ,does this domain get up to that price? ,How did the broker get involved? What was the first offer 10 million??? All this aside if I owned this domain I may have sold it for 10k. The question is now let press rewind and go one week back ,take all the involved players in the sale and
erase their history of existence ,,,Now if I listed this domain starting at $1 how much would I end up getting from NamePro members. The reason I'm asking is maybe one day one up us can buy a million dollar domain on the cheap. Please all members leave 2 prices what you would have paid and what you think the final bid would have been. This can be very interesting.

The domain was sold by Broker Larry Fisher for aprox 1.2 million I would have paid only $800 for the domain and I think on namepros the bidding would have went as high as only $1800

I think your $1800 is pretty close, I was thinking about $1500. So around 1/10,000 lol.

As soon as I saw this domain I thought the sold price was cheap

What was the biggest socialmedia website before Facebook?

It's name is extremely close to this domain name

But it depends on the who bought it as to weather it will be successful or not

If it was bought by a tech entrepreneur with a vision it could become a website worth billions but any vision for this domain name would be quite similar to that of Facebook

If this domain was bought by themedia as a website to add news to to purely to collect data that would produce ad $`'s etc which would be the same as a person with $ eyes etc it would have very limited success as it would be designed with ad, $`'s in mind not the vision

But because many don't value this type of domain name name and or fail to understand the vision and tech concept behind this type of domain name etc is the same reason why they will probably sell a world class domain name to a tech entrepreneur for just a few $`'s possibly less than $100 or so that becomes one of the world's biggest websites

Maybe I'm not understanding your point. Wouldn't this hold true for ANY domain name?

Now, NaturalBeauty.com just sold for $9,999 (and at a loss no less...) which surprises the heck out of me as I feel it's intrinsically more valuable than MyWorld.com any day of the week. I'm shocked "NB" wasn't picked up by someone in the cosmetic or pharmaceutical industry where a few million dollars spent here or a several million there is a drop in the bucket for their advertising and marketing budgets. Heck, I would think a large plastic surgery group should be happy to spend at least $20-50k for the domain in order to promote their services.

So I guess my point is, no matter what the domain, the most important "vision" in maximizing a sale price is that of the seller connecting with the "right" buyer who has the grandest "vision" AND need for the dn... PLUS deep pockets.

A gallon of water is worth only 99 cents to the customers at the local market. But if I was to take that same gallon of water out to a guy who has been lost in the desert for the last 5 days with no provisions, I'm pretty sure he'd give at least a few hundred for that cool, clear taste of heaven.

    Per the great Bobby Unser,
Ps. I probably wouldn't have offered more than $500-$800 for MyWorld. But I wouldn't be an enduser target for it either.

The domain name you mention eg nb etc is perfect for a celebrity or pop star or model to make in to their personal brand and if branded well by such a person the public when hearing those two words eg nb would think of that celebrity etc but that brand would be only as good as that celebrity name makes it etc

Eg the my world domain etc is ideal for the public to upload their world on to such a website which as I see it is exactly what Facebook is to many as without fb many couldn't function during the day as it has become their world to the extent to some it has become everything to them

But my world concept 's success depends on who bought the domain and why they wanted to buy the domain and the strength of their vision behind such a concept

RS is known for the ability to wait for the perfect buyer and extract an insane price from that buyer. Many domainers have domains with potential if the perfect buyer comes along. However, I am not a fan of domains which start with "my" or "the" even though sometimes they sell. Think about it for a moment - how many of us would pay serious money for this keyword in any TLD other than .COM?

Completely agree with you.. As a re-seller, I would've paid $10k for NaturalBeauty.. same for MyWorld. Incredible domains.

We consider this as accidental sale.

Your 100% correct ,there probably many registered and unregistered domains that would be just as good ,and basically if the guy would have bought any of them with the resources he probably has would make the domain as good as anything else ,facebook means nothing if you look back 20 years ,I own face author.com which sounds funny ,but with money behide it ,it can become a household brand
