What would you pay?

Hello,
Not sure if I overpaid for a domain name I just bought. What would you all pay for clx.us? I'll tell you what I paid after so as not to bias your comments.

Well, my answer depends on one very important factor...

Are you a domainer that purchased the name to resell?

Or are you a product owner/manager that purchased the domain to develop and brand?

Anywhere between $60-$100 as a domain reseller

Hi,
I am not looking to resell, but to develop/brand.

"a domain is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it"

on a reseller level $50-$100

if you have a great product or business market that matches up to the domain and will make you money 500-1k or more is not unreasonable, depends on your intended use and how valuable the domain is to your business model, doesn't really matter what you paid for it but if your use of it will bring in the revenue, if you already bought it get busy on making it work for you and don't worry if you overpaid or not as it's already purchased, to me it's worth $50, to the right end user which I assume is you it could be worth 1k plus depending on the income generated from the business that revolves around clx?

I agree on the above few comments.

Thanks for the feedback all. Well, I paid $190 and I have a few loose thoughts but nothing concrete yet on business models. I live in Connecticut, which is why the first letter "c" was appealing. But as it stands, it makes sense to say I paid too much until I develop something so that I can say I paid too little :)

good luck with it Jeff, show us what you come up with later on after it's developed :)

The $50 price is for a no-meaning name (with the "x").

I read it "clicks" the instant I saw it, which to me means affiliates, adsense, stuff like that. Not sure how I would turn that into a website, but at least to me the name has meaning.

look at it this way, even if you never develop it and hold on to it for 10 years, you'll still make a profit. At most you'll pay $300 total. Within 10 years the .us domain should be very powerful and a 3 letter domain will fetch more than $300. Thats my opinion anyway. But like you said, you're planning to develop it so see what you can do with it.

ha, develop something with it, wait for a few month more and i am sure your domain will exceed more than your capital by 25%-50%

according to 3 character.com, the price is $40, so I would pay for $40.

yes the bottom-line value of the domain is what you can get on a flip, but this is a 3letter name not a 3-character name so the above value does not really apply.

I would say $40 is underpriced. Lately, even the worst LLL.us domains are going for mid to high 40s.

About your purchase, I think you paid a decent price for the domain considering you are an end user. I have about 1% of all LLL.us domains and have run into people with similar and larger portfolios than mine in LLL.us who refuse to sell any of their LLL.us for less than $x,xxx.

I think you should be happy with your purchase knowing that it could have cost you a lot more to acquire the domain. Additionally, now that you have purchased the domain, it is yours forever (assuming you don't do anything illegal with it and you renew it every year). I'm guessing in another year or two, the wholesale pricing for LLL.us will be about at the price you paid. Even if you don't decide to develop, hold onto the domain for a while and you can always resell it at a later time for the same (if not higher) price than what you originally paid.

Hey, the dn could almost be read as clicks.us. Lets start a traffic exchange community based on some novel new approach and share the wealth, lol. Thanks for the comments. Now I'm much more content despite the few naysayers on this thread.
