If you had $500,000 Guys what would you do with it a present?

Would you invest in Generic domains or would you buy the Google Stock at low price?

Im interested to know what you would do?

Regards,

Robbie

As a numeric domainer, take my bias for what it is. But I would buy lots of NNN.com and NNNN.com at reseller prices ($10-$15k for NNN.com and $500-$1000 for NNNN.com). Doesn't really matter what numbers. Nothing is more generic, or international, than a number. And as international traffic is going to explode, especially in the developing world, this is the best opportunity for growth I think. Now if I only had $500k!

I'll buy myself a neat Mazda 2 (2nd generation) hatchback and help my parents pay off the housing loan. :D

And pray that there's some nice bargains at NameJet or SnapNames.

Buy AAA rated bonds, great returns ATM. Invest in blue chip shares at bargain basement prices and buy up some lll and nnn domains.

Really I would try to get a nice return like 12% or more and just let the money sit. Jeez you can live comfortably for your entire life off of $60k a year. I'd just lay around.

IF you decide to invest in domain names, stay away from junk like "llll" "nnnn" etc, if things really go to crap these are are the first to loose value.

Only focus on commercial generic domains ie. something to sell music like freemusic.com top40.com downloadmp3s.com, something for insurance ie. insurancequotes.com buyinsurance.com etc

Stay away from "brandable" names unless they are cheap, ie. goodmorning.com niceday.com etc

That is my professional advice.

One of my biggest regrets in life was not buying Chrysler stock when it was at $1 per share and Lee Iacocca was leading the comeback....he said showing his age :)

Anyway, whatever car manufacturer survives, I will buy the stock. $1000 for 1000 shares is easy enough. Ford is almost at that price now!

So, spend a few grand on car stock at $1 per share...and enjoy the comfort and knowledge that you have money in the bank.

Domains...stay with the car stock for now :)

Yes, exactly. Buy as few domains as you can, with the most generic and valuable meaning.

pay of all debt
buy a couple more very strong names and focus on DEVELOPMENT and promotion, keeping a little slush fund handy for next year or two

They're private now anyway. I would probably wait another 6 months - 1 year and invest in real estate. I don't think I could ever day trade, I would only buy a stock if I had 100% faith in a company.

My pops lost a significant amount of money during the dot-com rage investing in tech stocks, but we live relatively okay now due to some real estate investments.

If the situation ever arises I'll get back to you.

In the mean time with the "What If" factor I want a helicopter.

Generic Traffic Domain Names. One thats make $ parked.

Its like buying a stock with a daily dividend.

I would also put the few dollars into development, and build out the site. Thus making even more. You could easily do this quite a few times with fantastic domain names for the 500k you've got.

same here. i'd invest most of it in more "secure" investments and then get a part-time job.
