Note: When it comes to black hat SEO and white hat SEO. Black hat of course is much faster and can earn you more money in the short term. Of course your only going to last short term as Google will penalize your website. Honestly if your website gets penalized by google it is just "Dust in the wind". Add img alt tags to your images and, h1, h2, etc. heading tags. Any site over a few pages should have a xml sitemap for easy spider access. Add a blog if you are able to update it with regularity. yes content is the king of website and SEO, if your content is unique and strong then you get definitely high ranking in SERP. you need to write blogs, press release, articles and also need to shared in your social media profile with links.

I'm not fully satisfied with your thought, i don't think only back links play major rolls in SERP results.
