I have a domain someone is trying to buy and they already offer a decent price for it I am not going to turn down. I will like to have a third party involved in the transaction to avoid any type of scam. A place were they can pay for the domain and then I will release the domain to that service and they can give it to the end user.

Please advice me. I am not trying to lose this domain or this deal either.

Thanks

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
GoDaddyGoDaddy
escrow.com

But they hold the $$$ until the buyer receives the domain from you. A little different from what your asking, but same result...
There are others, too. However, escrow.com seems to be the most popular. GL

Moniker is another choice.

From the summary i gathered from the other threads, people here concluded that:

1. ESCROW.COM does not specialize in internet domains. They are doing escrow business on just about anything physical. They simply added internet domains into their business, which means they have far less experience and less solid relationship with the domaining industry compared to others.

2. You may want to consider escrow services from those who specialize in domains and nothing else. Which means, they understand all the issues faced by domainers.

3. The top choice is an escrow service who will actually hold ownership of both the domain and the monies, as a true third-party agent, to make sure both buyer and seller fulfill their transaction obligations. This choice is MONIKER per suggestion.

4. If SEDO can broker the sale of SEX.COM, they'll probably take care of your high-value domain as well. So SEDO is another choice.

The issues that need to be understood (and I am still looking into it) are security and process. Clearly, Escrow.com has some process issues, if someone is able to change the registration of a domain and then upon return of that domain to the owner, the changes are not validated and reverted back to the original ownership information. This is BAD! and is someone indicative of the sloppiness that permeates application development within the entire financial services industry nowadays (look at the mortgage mess).

And then there are the security issues ... nuf said.

its true that escrow has some issues regarding the whois scam , but i did not found a better solution until now , i had discuss escrow.com agents about those issues and they are well aware of those tricks - and it wont be easy to pull those scams .

having said that , its always good to know your buyer a bit before the sale - specially if big amount of money are involve . investigate a bit about him - try to use google and outer sources .

With all these issues with Escrow.com regarding domain transactions, why are domainers still using it (or perhaps prioritizing it as their first option compared to other escrow services)? Why not stick with Moniker or Sedo and avoid the problem?

Unless Moniker and Sedo are much worse?

You can always use a lawyer - someone respected and knowledgeable about domain law like John Berryhill http://johnberryhill.com/

Though I don't see an issue w/ Escrow.com - it's worked fine for me in the past.

Cheers!

I sold a $5000 domain through Escrow.com about a month back no problem. Sold it to a guy in a Russia, to boot.
