>> NAMESERVERS or URL/DOMAIN FORWARDING <<

Hi all...

Most of our domains are currently directed to the respective parking cos by changing the nameservers to the parking cos' nameservers...

...but it seems that it is "better" for the domain (SEO wise or otherwise) if the domain is forwarded to the parking companies... is this true?

Also, in Domain Forwarding, is it essential to:

1) MASK the domain
2) Fill in the MASKED DESCIPTION
3) Fill in the Keywords

If the answers to the above are yes: is there anyway of changing all this info in BULK, or do we have to go through each domain to write a DESCRIPTION and fill in appropriate KEYWORDS for each and every domain?

Thanks for sharing all thoughts, experiences and advice. Hopefully this thread can help all domainers in NP to better 'optimize' their domains.

it depends on what parking service(s) you use actually. for me not unless i want to have email address on that parked domain i just change it's dns to that of the parking service.

Guys, do you know if it makes a difference to mask the dn and add description and metatags?

I heard that proper SEO practices like that will get better Search Engine rankings and hence better traffic / revenue from SEs.

I prefer to forward the domains at least until I know which parking service is providing the best results for the domain in question. If you want to move from one parking service to another will the change happen immediately with forwarding but take about 24 hours with a DNS change.

i think masking and doorways are black seo style :imho:

i do dns alot, because i think it gets the visitor to my parked page faster, but say you have a domain and you dont have a clue where traffic is coming from you could watch your own stats and mess with keywords better.

So, no one really thinks that Forwarding with Meta Description/Keywords actually does any good for the domain vis-a-vis better SE rankings?

Agreed Weblord... meta keywords etc seems to be less influencial on the SEs relative to linkpop now, but does it still have any positive impact at all?

We were told that for all valuable domains, we should definitely forward the DN isntead of making DNS changes... have we been mis-informed?

Yes, you are totally right here. If nothing else, at least it does save time in waiting for NS changes to be effective.

I usually just change the name servers.

I just change the DNS. Fooling with keywords etc. would take too much time now as I have a lot of domains.

Besides...doesn't Google Ban you for forwarding your domains? You wouldn't get listed there...but maybe with Yahoo or some other search engines.

I usually change the dns - sedo states on its website that it prefers it done that way but they don't say why.

I have found (on developed websites I have done) that they will rank far better by changing the dns rather than forward the url, I have never managed to do well by web forwarding.

I don't know if this is true for parking pages but as far as I can see most parking page rank absolutely C*** ! :td:

I also find that on sedo parking pages only maybe 15% of my names will ever get picked up by Google - MSN picks them all up but usually drops the majority of them in a month or so. This is really FRUSTRATING !! :'(

We would all make so much more if these parking companies managed to sort this out.

Does anyone know any parking companies where the domains always do ok in search engines ?

Hi Mc Scotland... Not really but GoldKey supposedly has 'advanced' seo features and Trafficz allows some function enabling users to add their own content. Anyone have more info on this?

On the DNS vs FORWARDING option: it seems that there is no one that thinks Forwarding is better. Final call for anyone in support of Forwarding over DNS changes?

I just forwarded, masked, meta tagged 68 domains a few days ago, seeing quite a few already within the first 1-5 pages of google results, if forwarding definitely use the masking or framing option as search engines don't seem to mind the forwarding if framed, too soon to tell, but so far so good, dns changes are easier but the forwarding gives you keyword control if willing to do all the work involved as it takes longer if dealing with a mass amount of domains.

dns -

Good results. better imo than forwarding. But I would not be too lazy to not input key words. If dont even have time to park them properly then you own too many.

I think search engines are trying to find ways to exclude all forwarded and parked domains from their results.

The party is coming to an end, and I only just arrived! :'(
