Emails are nothing but just a combination of text Strong spam filter and attachment that sender drafts to send to a particular receiver.

And, in between all of that, a lot of processes are happening…!

According to a user’s perspective, emails just work with Send and Receive protocol, which is closest to its truth.

Email uses various mail servers and varies in terms of operating system. For instance, the most popular mail server for Windows is Microsoft Exchange Server. However there are various such as Ipswitch IMail Server, IceWarp Mail Server, MailEnable, and hMailServer.

An SMTP server is a software program that send and receive email messages. SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol and is a standard protocol used for sending emails over the internet.

When you send an email, your email client (such as Gmail or Outlook) connects to your SMTP server and sends the message. The SMTP server then routes the message to the recipient's SMTP server, which delivers the message to the recipient's email client.

Here are the steps involved in sending an email through an SMTP server:

1. Your email client connects to your SMTP server using the SMTP protocol.

2. Your email client provides your SMTP server with the recipient's email address, the subject of the email, and the message content.

3. Your SMTP server checks to see if the recipient's domain exists and if the email address is valid.

4. If the recipient's domain exists and the email address is valid, your SMTP server sends the message to the recipient's SMTP server.

5. The recipient's SMTP server receives the message and stores it in a mailbox.

6. The recipient's email client retrieves the message from the mailbox.

SMTP servers can also handle incoming emails. When an email is sent to your email address, the sender's SMTP server sends the message to your SMTP server. Your SMTP server then delivers the message to your email client.

Overall, SMTP servers play a critical role in the email communication process by ensuring that messages are delivered correctly and efficiently.
