What information can websites get from your credit card?

If you pay by a credit card at a website(not paypal),and you JUST enter your credit card number and expire date,is this all the information the website can see about yourself? They do not have access to your name and home address do they? Or do they just have access to your name because it'd appear on their credit card statement? But they can't find out your address right?

Generally they can figure out your address.. But that is against VISA's policies.. Actually storing the credit card in any form is against Visa's policies.

If they have your credit card, I can almost assure you they can find your address if they really want to. An example would be if you use the card to purchase something illegal... You better believe Visa will hand over your address if the FBI comes knocking.

I believe you're allowed to store them in a VPN, otherwise no. How do you think newegg, paypal, and other sites do it?

You are allowed to store them in a VPN you are correct there.. But you need to have consult from Visa and most of the time visa will issue you a encryption method which you need to follow.

If I didn't trust a website with my address, I certainly wouldn't give them my credit card number.
