so i've recently opened an account on buy.com (canada) to purchase something i've had my eye on, and i'm at the checkout area and they ask for my credit card's security code (they already have my credit card number). what should i do?

obviously the page is encrypted and buy.com is reputable, but even the most reputable companies get hacked, "misplace" information, etc. has anyone else bought something from buy.com with a credit card before?

I haven't brought from buy.com but everytime I've used a credit card I've had to put in the security code. I highly doubt it would get hacked... They test those sites daily.

the security code is something that I don't think they save

The security code is mainly for verification purposes. The security code is not saved after a purchase. You are required at most sites to enter the security code every time you make a purchase. This is good because if anyone ever hacked into your buy.com account, they cant buy anything with your on file credit card without that code on the back. Merchants are not permitted to store the security code. It is used during the time of purchase only.
