I'd like to see more information on dropping .tv domains, either more drop lists or perhaps a script or some such where we can check on dropping .tv domains.....

IMHO, I'd like to see more (though there have been some good samples posted here) examples of developed ".TV" domain names / websites ... those that are unaffiliated with the poster(s) or other (.TV) domainer(s). This would be to get, perhaps, a better sense of which folks/entities/industries/etc. in the general public may be choosing this extension over others for their sites. Any other ideas along these lines would, of course, be appreciated as well.
I'm glad to read continued reasonable and professional (appraisal) input here in this area, and that some of the initial "hype" has been replaced with perhaps a healthy amount of realism, and modified expectations (for instance, in seeing more emphasis now with regard to development potential with the .TV's rather than purely speculative - and often "hyped" - reselling potential), in my view.
Keep up the good work! :talk:

I would like to see more private sales reported by the big guys, to see the feel of the market. Definetly the drop cycle of .tv's.

Well thank you for the replies so far Jeff's request I know I can personally work on, as far as RW and FD I believe that there is no drop cycle from when I have spoken to people at DOT tv and I think this is done on purpose they see drops and the like as things domainers use and even though we all have our own opinions as why they price the way they do THEY stick to one common line and that is we are not focused on DOMAINERS we WANT END USER DEVELOPMENT. I asked will the price of LLL.tv ever come down? Their answer ? NO it will go up we will not have a bunch of domainers come in and reg all the LLL.tv's that is just one example. SO I do not think they will help RW with a cycle of when domains drop especially on the premium side.

FD I do not think you will see the big guys report more sales in the entertainment business especially they want to do things under the radar.

I would like to see more DEVELOPED TV domains/websites just like Jeff stated. Actually I started to list some good developed ones and I was planning to start a thread. It would be great if you do this as the forum leader (and it would be wonderful if it's a sticky thread as it's such a pain to find a thread in all that crowd). Once in a while I come across great dot TV sites such as GolfBug.TV, High.TV, Sail.TV, and I am sure there are many others that I am not aware of. So, if anyone knows/sees a good developed site (not just a regular site used dot tv extension), s/he can send you PM. The first post of the thread should have the main list all the time (maybe from A to Z). This way, it would be easier for us to see whether the one we will recommend already exists or not, also, nobody wants to take your valuable time by sending the same sites over and over again. And the thread wouldn't be too long to follow/read. First post would keep all the info. Make sense?
I think we should recommend this kind of TV websites to our friends/colleagues too - this might help pushing this unique extension forward a little bit :)
Thanks for asking our opinions and for your efforts to improve the .tv forum.

Hi Equity,

One of things I would like to see is a thread discussing what countries/languages have adopted using .tv

I find that most have focused on English words attached to .tv but I feel strongly that there are many more markets out there being neglected. Sometimes it is a hit or miss. For example my Archivos, which means files in Spanish, gets around 15 to 20 uniques per day all coming from Europe while other Spanish .tvs get none. So there are gems out there in foreign languages that are waiting to be picked up for reg fee. It is suprising to see that Verisgn did not capture these.

Another idea would be to separate the .tv arena into two: discussion and appraisal. I think we could all use more discussion and less appraisal in terms of .tv only because we have few public comps to go by. What we need more of is development tools and ideas. How to embed video, etc? Link exchanges to other .tvs, etc

Thanks Equity!!

One last one, maybe you could get someone from .tv to do a piece on Radio Namepros or something like that. That would be great. In fact, hearing your expertise in such a format would be awesome as well.

I have spoken to DOT tv SKG and even from someone who knows about this place and has been appreciative of the forum has said it would take a long time for them to get anything done. For example the DOT TV forum link and NP logo is on his desk and he told me it will take months to get on the www.tv THey are very slow at verisign they just don't get it .tv is asmall part of verisign so what they focused one with .tv is the big reg fees. I have given several ideas that were non monetary looking for just promo and nothing they just cannot move that fast or they are not interested. I mean look at their own promo for HRTS someone MRS JELLO got KIDS.tv for $10,100 the buy of the year IMO . It went that cheap because no promo of the auction.

I cannot split up the Sub forum into APpraisals and discussion. We are one sub forum we just need more info and less appraisals posted.

You are right about language outside of some obvious ones foreign languages are the way to go you can get some with traffic and are good keywords. This forum along time ago was responsible for every non premium number spelled out from one to ten taken in GERMAN, French, and Spanish. I have said before there are good buys in foreign language .tv

I agree, HRTS could have been so much better had they spent a little in advertising. Mrs Jello did, IMO, get the deal of the year. Kids.tv, if fully developed has unlimited potential. What company would not pay to put an ad there!! Equity, I find it disturbing that management at Verisign failed in promotion. Tvers know that this was straight win for the buyer, thank God. In any event, Verisign is a big company doing well so part of me says they must know what they are doing even if it does not seem like it. For the life of me I have never understood Greatdomains selection process (owned by Verisign) but heck, they make sales, three or four are posted on there homepage right now. I do think though, that if another auction were to take place, more people might be armed this time around.

Thank you for starting this thread. I hope this increases member participation and increased enthusiasm for development. I myself am working to slowly develop. I have a lot of good names and so little time :(, which I know I am not alone.

Let's all work together to keep the ideas flowing!

Perhaps a sticky, closed thread that simply contains articles of interest, posted by date. That way, if I find an article, I send it to you, you post it by date on one line of the thread, eventually we get a pseudo library of related articles, and don't have to wade through dozens of old postings...

An interesting experiment might be a 'Diary Of A .TV Site', from purchasing a domain, to choosing how to include the video within the site, include stat growth, and finally to promoting/marketing and looking, if desired, for an end buyer. Might be fun to watch.

How To articles would be appreciated on developing interactive sites, since I think we are going to have to demonstrate to end users the potential that each .tv site has.
